Why is blood coming out of my eye?

Have you ever woken up to find a crimson stream of blood flowing from your eye and wondered, “What the is happening to me?” Fear not my friend because I have some good news and bad news. The good news is you are not alone; the bad news? You might have a serious problem… or it could be nothing to worry about at all.

What Causes It?

As hilarious as it would be insert sarcasm if we can just say having blood gush out of our eyes was perfectly normal -it’s really not- so why exactly does this fresh hell happen? Here are some possible explanations:

1. A Bloody Trauma

You got poked in the eye, fell down while running with scissors (psst don’t do that), had an accident while rollerblading or God forbid someone punched your face in(insert horrified gasp). Whatever happened doesn’t matter now anyway since you’re experiencing something altogether much creepier but still potentially less dangerous than…

2. Glaucoma

So let’s say pokey/scary injury wasn’t the cause for those red tears but rather what’s known as glaucoma. As opposed to when Michael Scott exclaimed ‘MY EYES!’, swelling happens back by his optic nerve due to pressure buildup which led him into proclaiming such utterances on The Office.

3. Conjunctivitis

Or pink eye(eww) may cause one too many things one never wanted out of their see holes besides conjuring horrific childhood images from memes inducing long forgotten traumas involving stink bombs on classmates (hands up if who feels personally attacked)

Who Can Experience It?

Unfortunately everyone can experience ruptured blood vessels behind their eyes causing extra ocular-orbital hemorrhages but common vectors include children with little self control resembling flamingos, seniors on blood thinners, and any other catastrophes in between.

Risk Factors

Some risk factors may include sneezing violently or doing anything with forceful lung related activity (bungee jumping anyone?), lifting weights at the gym excessively, vomiting suddenly ,and having exceptionally high BP(insert ominous music here).

When to Worry(Yes That Time)

It’s important to know when things morph from what looks like something straight out of The Walking Dead into actually needing medical attention. If a bloody eye accompanies with severe headache, vision loss or accompanied by fever it’s time to dial up your private physician immediately.

Things You Can Do While Waiting for Medical Help

There isn’t too too much you can do until you see your doctor but soaking a washcloth in cool water and placing it on that pesky puffy infected area is one small fix which still doesn’t solve our root issue.

What Your Doctor Will Do

Your healthcare provider will gather intel regarding the timing/progression/history of symptoms while also checking your blood pressure levels- just in case they’re contributing. They would look as well if this has occurred only once or constantly repeatingsness? Yep- Repeatingsness (just seeing if I had your attention there hehe) whether it might be related to certain pressures exerted over time such as using corrective lenses every waking second yayyyy

How Is It Treated?

Unfortunately, depending on the cause sometimes no treatment diagnosis befall you because those sensitive lashes surrounding those somber sockets heal themselves magically overtime #boring
On infrequent occasions however there are individuals who require interventions involving stopping medicine causing ocular/orbit hemorrhaging so existing abnormalities coupled together which may necessitate some drug intake readings elevated maybe through month-end closing procedures.

A Glimmer Of Hope For Surgery Focused Folks

For hopeless surgery lovers(excluding blade runners or wannabe plastic surgeons) you may turn to them if this ocular region still gives symptoms after many weeks so have a change of heart and become operation aficionados why don’t we?

Can It Be Prevented?

As much as I wish I could empower you with tips on how not to get hemorrhagic eyes, alas that’s nearly impossible. Protecting your face while engaging in ballsy activities like gymnastics-Except for Earrings retaining basketball routines which often lead to confrontational bruisings and potentially bloody episodes fall into the tough-luck-can’t-do-much-about-it bucket.

Reduce Risks By Maintaining Health

Even though preventing it is difficult maintaining overall health by adhering strictly to taking doctor prescribed medications doses at designated times especially those high-blood-pressure ones helps reduce periodic influences ultimately affecting vulnerable points within our beings causing endothelial disruptions whispers I’m beginning to feel like a science experiment here.

Eat Healthy, Stay Fit

Just kidding -you can finally breathe-, consuming an abundance of nutritious food rich in vitamin C and antioxidants plus cat naps make all sorts of catastrophic issues disappear(cue twinkly background music feels).

Conclusion

Sigh, eye-blood wasn’t one such thing but either way remember there are few excellent things happening around us,except perhaps reading through my outrageous article:-). Anyway do relax since most instances aren’t serious although please consult medical counsel if accompanied by worse concurrent problems above.

Happy Healing!
