Where to get almond milk?

If you’re lactose intolerant or just prefer the taste of almond milk over regular cow’s milk, you might find yourself wondering where the heck to get it. Fear not, young padawan; we’ve got your back.

The Mega Grocery Chains

So obviously this is a pretty good place to start. Your biggest supermarket chains usually carry tons of different kinds of almond milk these days.

  • Walmart – Believe it or not, Walmart actually has an impressive selection of almond milks! They’ve got everything from plain ol’ unsweetened and vanilla flavored options, all the way up to more niche stuff like chocolate and cold brew coffee-flavored varieties.
  • Target – Like Walmart, Target has definitely jumped on the alt-milk bandwagon recently. You’ll be able to find classic brands like Blue Diamond as well as trendier ones like Califia Farms at most locations.
  • Kroger – Kroger offers its own house brand of almond milk that comes in fun flavors like coconut and banana (yes really). They also carry big names like Silk and Almond Breeze.

Specialty Health Food Stores

If you’re looking for something a little fancier or more upscale than what’s available at your nearest Stop & Shop or Safeway, there are plenty of specialty health food stores that have exactly what you’re looking for.

  • Whole Foods Market – It wouldn’t be a “where can I buy [insert trendy thing here]?” article without mentioning Whole Foods. While their prices can sometimes land in eye-watering territory (looking at you $8 pint-sized artisanal vegan ice cream), they do have some great deals on non-dairy staples such as almond milk.
  • Trader Joe’s – Much less intimidatingly posh than WF but still with plenty of healthy options (and Two Buck Chuck), TJ’s definitely competes in the realm of plant-based milks. They carry their own private label Almond Beverages, which come unsweetened or in vanilla and chocolate flavorings.
  • Sprouts Farmers Market – A health food store that’s known for carrying all kinds of organic products at affordable prices, Sprouts sells dozens of different almond milk varieties to choose from.

Local Health Stores

If you’re looking for something really unique, we highly suggest seeking out a local independent health food/organic goods store that’s been around since forever. These places often carry obscure but delicious brands of nut milk that you probably won’t find anywhere else.

They stock multiple types and sizes bottles/cans of your fave alternate milks like Good Karma Flax Milk plus Enjoy Life Chocolate Milk).
  • Small Batch Wellness Co (CA) – Located by Huntington Beach Pier this shop is today arguably Southern California’s trendiest wellness destination offering exclusively gluten-free baked goodies such as matcha tea sippers featuring pulverized nuts instead rice flour beverage mixes as well sneaking Paleo-approved vegetarian tamales into weekend pop ups.
