Where is texmati rice grown?

Rice can be found on every continent except Antartica. It comes in different types, shapes and sizes. However, not all rice is grown equal. Today we’re going to explore one type of rice that has become increasingly popular – The Texmati Rice.

What is Texmati Rice?

Texmati isn’t just a fancy word for “rice”. It’s a specific type of basmati rice cultivar developed by the American company ‘RiceTec’. Compared to traditional basmati rice from India, Texamati tends to be lighter and fluffier when cooked.

Don’t call it Basmati’s Cousin!

Many people think that Texamatni rice is just another variety of brown or white rice or perhaps some relative (read: poor cousin) of regular Indian Basmati. But nope! That perception couldn’t be more wrong if it tried putting on purple shoes with an orange suit!.

Instead, what sets this long-grain beauty apart from its relatives are where it grows and how its cultivated.

So, Just where Exactly Does the Legend grow Texamtini?!

Now now everybody who ever attended geography class knows there are some countries out there who have made their reputation exporting high quality varieties of crops- almonds from Spain or Brazil nuts anyone?. Well Dear friends,Let us turn up our imaginary microscopes towards Texas because as they say “Everything’s Bigger” over There…YEAH!! Now don’t get me wrong ,There also other names coming up but first let me indulge you about Mr.Texan .

Mr.Texas

“Gimme Aaaa Yeeehaw”, those words summarize my image when I hear “Texas” As wild and as bafflingly self-confident with America’s left leg, Texas is home to almost 28 Million individuals-most of whom lay claim to a unique culture that can’t be replicated anywhere else in the world .

Now Back to Rice…..

‘It Ain’t Texas Alone!’

Despite popular belief (let us all roll our eyes together),Texmati rice is not exclusively grown in Texas- although they are known for its cultivation. In reality,America has been exporting Texmati rice for decades, shipping it worldwide.

In addition,Texmati rices are now also being grown in other regions like Southern Louisiana and Arkansas where conditions favor this variety’s growth. However let’s look at the USA first:

Where is Texamatni Rice Grown predominantly in the U-S-of-A?

Texas

Texas accounts for most of the US crop yields-In fact, the earliest versions began its journey from there before spreading all over America- talk about sharing things equally!.+ Attractive weather patterns (and really good soil) have made growing Texamati in certain parts of texas very successful.

Farms typically span between hundreds and thousands of acres many boasting automated watering systems,cutting-edge fertilizers etc

The different counties within Texas contributing towards such a massive production include

County Yield(1000 cwt)
Wharton 835
Matagorda 524
Colorado 481
Jackson 410
Others ~800

According to surveys conducted by USDA-NASS-Texas Field Office, this marked an increase from last year’s approximated yield(6.1 million). This upto par production resulted from advances techniques farmers used e.g more precise irrigation methods .Surprises everybody huh?

Fun Fact: Recent estimates indicate that only around 2% of Basamati grown in Texas is Texmati.

Louisiana

The second most important American state for production of Texamatini Rice (And the cradle of Jazz ) is located to the East of Texas- Louisiana.Located alongside the United States’ Mississippi river, this area presents similar soil and weather conditions like those in Texas. Therefore it’s only natural that many farmers here have added Texamatini Rice to their portfolios.

Farms that specialize in rice tend to prefer growing Texmeti types due to its unique properties when cooked

Let us look at some parishes with favorite farming spots:

Parish Yield
Jefferson Davis 120
Calcasieu 100
Acadia 90

According t## o surveys conducted by USDA-NASS,Louisiana Field Office,in4 outof every10 lbs harvested from farms was accounted for by production of long-grain texmati variant-mind blown yet?.and speaking off …

Other Regions

As previously mentioned ,Southern Arkansas has become a critical location where people can find fields full of golden-brown rice strands.Around 20% percent yield roughly comes from there which suffice to say considering ab initio its all about texas but who knows what future holds eh?

In addition,a Variety called ‘Jasmine’ or organic brown Jasmine found on West Coast is now widely produced, becoming a popular substitute for fragrant basmati rice .

Top Producers Worldwide ?

So you may be thinking – But where does most #Texamti rice acrosss countries come from? Well dear foodie comrades, heterogeneity exists too as countries vary greatly .

India?

Most people associate basmati -A cousin if I dare say- with food items hailing from india….BUT hold up! did we not agree earlier that Texmati is an egg come after Basamati? then it must have originated or atleast dominantly grown in India, right?

That would be a pretty safe assumption because of its close ties to regular basmati rice. Yet surprisingly enough- NO!

Europeans familiar with their history books and tales will let you know that Texas was farming Texamti as early as the 1970s well ahead of Indian Commercial production. There’s no denying Pakistan has some stake in this being one of export outlets for RiceTec.

In saying that,However, even if growers had been harvesting Texamatini rice in Texas since the onset of the ’70’s,India wouldn’t be far off their heels-

United Arab Emirates

Lately, middle east countries like UAE,Qatar and Saudi Arabia have become increasingly popular markets for Houston based RiceTec due to preference among locals for fragrant aromatic rice.Hence importation has risen from trickle-by-last-year’s standards-to a staggering quantity now bearing fruit

Conclusion

So there you have it folks,Texmati-a subtley fragranced, long grained variety which travails borders, traverses inland valleys and adorns plates on special occasions-Are we not all glad we discovered who our neighbor Growing these fluffy grains really are?
