When would you use cpr?

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a life-saving procedure that is essential in many emergency situations. Whether you’re at home, at work or out in the community, knowing when and how to perform CPR can make all the difference. In this article, we’ll cover everything you need to know about using CPR in case of an emergency.

What Is CPR?

Before diving into when CPR should be used, let’s review what it actually is. CPR is a technique that helps maintain blood flow and oxygenation to vital organs during cardiac arrest or respiratory failure. Chest compressions and rescue breaths are used to keep blood flowing until professional medical help arrives.

Why Should I Learn To Do It?

You never know when someone may need your help; there may not always be healthcare providers around who have learned cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) . Knowing how to do it can save a life! Learning first aid, including chest compressions and rescue breathing alongside automated external defibrillator use would also provide comfort by supplementing other basic lifesaving skills such as controlling excessive bleeding among others

When Can I Use It?

Now let’s get down the nitty-gritty of why one might want/need desperately this skill;

On A Stranger At The Park

Imagine taking your dog for a walk one afternoon with music blaring through your earphones then you notice someone on the playground staring blankly; slumped over next to their child holding onto their feet?
call 911
perform chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth if they aren’t breathing

At Home

There are numerous scenarios where it might prove useful! Be prepared for what could happen:

Choking Kid/Pet

Who opposes eating candy while watching late-night TV? Suddenly that cute furry pal swallows something small that they shouldn’t. They’d start choking; trying to cough with no luck.
Clear the item obstructing airflow.

Unconscious Family Member

It might happen that you walk into a room and find someone unconscious!
Check for their pulse
Administer chest compressions

In The Workplace

When it comes to our candidates in the workplace we still have use cases for CPR training:

Office Heart Attack

We occasionally hear stories of colleagues on kitchen countertops making coffee when they collapse from cardiac arrest, here’s what you can do;
call 911
perform chest compressions until medical help arrives.

How Do You Perform CPR?

Knowing how to perform CPR is only half the battle – properly executing it can make all the difference between saving someone’s life or causing further harm. Here are some crucial steps:

Step One: Assess The Situation

Evaluate if situation needs immediate action or otherwise:

• Is there an active danger?

• Call for help (EMS), be specific about your location and what happened..

Once 911 has been called, lay victim down carefully and proceed with following steps or as directed by trained professionals

Step Two: Check For Breathing And Pulse

If the person seems unresponsive, listen closely for any sounds of breathing while checking their pulse at either of these points;

•radial artery

•left side of neck

If neither responses were viable then assume need urgency in conducting both chest compression and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation procedures also known as “hands-only continuous CPR”

Step Three: Start Chest Compressions

Here’s where Fast Forward Cardio music can come into play! After placing one hand over another, apply fast-paced compressions continuously:

  • Place hands-on centre part of target’s torso cavity above solar plexus.

  • Use upper body weight applying force downwards towards sternum(carry on this process for at minimum, 30 compressions in the course of two minutes)

Step Four: Rescue Breaths

For someone having difficulty breathing astound victim by immediately administering rescue breaths to assist.

  • Pinch nostrils and cover full mouth.

  • Take a deep breath before transfering air into victim’s mouth making sure chest rises

Make certain their pulse falls within the range of 60-100 beats per minute while staying vigilant for signs of resuscitation effects (breathing or coughing). If there are no improvements / symptoms remain unchanged sought medical help!

Additional Tips To Keep In Mind

  1. Keep your hands interlocked over their torso whilst performing CPR (save ribs from breaking!)
  2. Use songs between 120/130 heart rate as rhythm guide
  3. Ensure that head is properly stabilized if they fell or are unstable prior to intervention
  4. Only administer CPR when it is necessary; do not mistake a faint pulse for one that has completely stopped
  5. CPR should always be followed up with professional medical attention

Conclusion

In conclusion, we hope you found this article useful in understanding when it may be appropriate to use Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) . Remember, anyone can learn how to perform basic lifesaving skills like chest compressions and rescue breathing – and you never know when you’ll need them. So why wait? Start learning today!
