Many people, at one point in their lives, have experienced a fever. A fever is when your body’s temperature goes above the average normal temperature due to an infection, illness or foreign substances that entered your body. We’ve all got bodies and as such we’re likely to experience this phenomenon – but when is it important enough that you really oughta muster the courage (and energy) to get yo’self down to the emergency room? This leads T-cells goin’ “hold on just one moment” causing inflammation which then affects clarity (or rather fluidity) within blood vessels allowing macrophages aka tiny little white knights within our blood stream earning double time eat any nasty-ass invadors they can find (cleans up crew chain gang take em away!), All while releasing proteins called pyrogens alongside other molecules that migrate towards an area in yo brains typically call its thermostat bringing about these unpleasant symptoms known as fevers.

The CDC defines having a fever when adults reach temperatures greater than or equal to 100.4°F (38°C). HOWEVER, maybe you’re a delicate human being or talking on behalf of someone else who comes close to considering themselves the definition of perfection so for YOU figuring out if you have a fever might involve understanding what ya normal body warmth is…basically if it feels hot enough to cook eggs we got ourselves something worth investigating further.

You might be thinking “A fever cannot do much harm”. Oh ho ho! I am here to tell y’all that is absolutely NOT the case, folks. Highly high temperatures can cause temporary or permanent damage if ignored for an extended period of time these effects include the following:

  • Kidney Failure
  • Liver Damage
  • Brain Swelling

And this isn’t even a comprehensive list! So please…if ya’lls feverish state last a while consider heading down to ER especially if whatever other symptoms start manifesting themselves.

What Are The Remedies For A Fever?

So two things are true – This smart writer definitely ain’t no doctor (my spouse will vouch for me about forgetting vitamin C existed) but at least tips never hurt right? Here are some remedies worth trying:

  • Hydrate Yourself:
  • Put your lips on some fluid vessels known as cups – they’re great and in today’s society come out of disposable paper containers too!

   Also recommended foods which contain watery goodness such as Watermelon, Strawberries,Yoghurt etc..(and NO googling Heinz Beans doesn't count either)
  • Take Some Over-The-Counter Medicine (OTC):
  • Medications such as acetaminophen also sold under brands such as Tylenol amongst others available without any prescription could bring temporary relief by releasing inflammation producing pyrogens.

 Other options include ibuprofen, which is an anti-inflammatory that can treat pain and fever.
  • Take A Lump Off That Desert Heat:
  • Although ya’lls burning up like a furnace (or at least convincingly so) make sure to underdress layer-wise since sweating gets rid of heat more efficiently than if wrapped in all items within your laundry basket

What Should You Avoid When You Have A High Temperature?

Okay now for the “uhh-oh” section. As much as these activities/groups get hyped in society they might make things worse during na ever-present state:

  • Strenuous Physical Activity

    • Drop those dumbbells hunni! Quickly!
  • Humid and Hot Environments
    (Guess saunas are OFF THE TABLE, BILLY)

When Can I Go Back To Work After Having A Fever?

So eventually someone or something partaking in life outside our little temperature regulated habitat will probably say/work with/do too much noise near you at some point. Here’s how long it takes after running hot before heading back out into the world y’all:

  • If The Infection Is Resolved:
  • Most employers want us folks free from any sideshow activities regarding sickness no longer than 24 hours following when fever subsided
