Whats under right rib cage?

Do you ever find yourself waking up in the middle of the night, asking yourself “what in the world is under my right rib cage?” Well, today we’re going to dive into this topic and explore what exactly resides on your right side.

Let’s Talk Anatomy

First things first, let’s talk about our anatomy. Our rib cage is made up of 12 pairs of ribs that are connected to each other by cartilage and then attach to our spine at the back. The first seven pairs of ribs connect directly to our sternum while the remaining five pairs indirectly connect through costal cartilage.

That being said, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that something important lies beneath all these bones!

Sternocostal Joints

So what do we have under there? One thing hiding out behind those bones are called sternocostal joints. These joints consist of two parts: articular facets located on either side and an interarticular ligament connecting them together.

Now I know this sounds like some kind of complicated machine part but stick with me for a minute here…

These sternocostal joints help provide movement between our ribs and breastbone which ultimately helps us expand our thoracic cavity (fancy word for chest) when breathing!

Liver

Alright alright enough with fancy words…I know everybody wants to hear more about organs so lets get down to business – what organs exist under there?

One such organ lurking below that depression below your right nipple (yes, everyone has one!) is none other than our liver!

The largest glandular organ in humans, it plays a vital role in detoxifying toxins from blood circulation so be sure not too consume too much alcohol or fried food as they can cause liver damage over time.

Gallbladder

Aside from its huge capacity for detoxification, the liver is directly connected to a small green sac called the gallbladder. This nutritious (maybe not really…) little guy is responsible for storing and releasing bile to aid in digestion, which is produced by none other than our favorite liver!

If you’re experiencing discomfort on your right side after eating especially foods that are high in fat content then watch out – this could be one miserable issue with gallstones forming from hardened deposits often due to unhealthy lifestyle choices.

Right Kidney

What many folks don’t realize — there’s more! One of your kidneys sits under that arch-shaped portion of bones at the back of your ribs as well (yes, both sides have ’em!) The kidney possesses an important role filtering waste products from blood circulation while helping maintain their delicate balance preventing dehydration or even worse becoming septic.

And next time when someone says, “You’re getting on my nerves,” know they just may be referring to those tiny nerve fibers embedded within supporting tissue termed along interspersed segments between vertebras or better known as intercostal nerves.

What Can Go Wrong Under There?

Now you’ve got pretty good grasp about what organs reside beneath all these bones but sometimes things go wrong…

Liver Disease

Liver disease can present itself through symptoms such as fatigue, ascites or yellowing of skin resulting from insufficient detoxification capabilities that usually arise after chronic heavy drinking sessions over years on end however viral infections like hepatitis C virus also likely culprits. So stop doing shots… take care better care yourself!

Kidney Stones

Kidney stones meanwhile typically produce sharp flank pain originating towards lumbar region shooting thighs + groins perhaps causing increased frequency / urgency during urination coupled with bloody stool. Ouch! And how does this happen? Did I mention consuming too much salt/dairy/stress yet? Well now ya know….

Gallstones

And finally, gallstones can produce sharp, squeezing pain beneath right rib mustering keeping you up all night long. Upper back or shoulder blade burning sensation included – fun! This usually occurs from too much cholesterol in your diet and lack of fiber promoting bad gut bacteria.

Wrapping it Up

So now that we’ve got a basic understanding of what resides beneath our right side, always be on the lookout for potential health problems by maintaining healthy lifestyle choices with frequent checkups at doctors’ offices performing routine testing before they become big issues!

And remember: don’t make life harder than it has to be… eat good food sparingly (moderation, remember?), drink plenty of water, and incorporate regular exercise into daily life making sure not to skip any lunges (lunging motion helps so much in regards to maintaining muscle supporting vertebra) causing intercostal sneaky nerve pinching action!.

Stay healthy folks!
