What year was mountain dew invented?

Have you ever woken up and thought to yourself, “I need to find out the year Mountain Dew was invented”? Well, look no further! In this article, we will deep dive into the history of one of America’s favorite soft drinks.

An Ode to Caffeine

Before we even begin talking about Mountain Dew, let’s take a moment to appreciate caffeine. Ahhh…caffeine. It is said that some people can’t live without it – usually those folks who wear T-shirts with slogans like “Don’t talk to me until I’ve had my coffee.” But for millions of others, soda is their preferred source of caffeine. And what better soda than the beloved green nectar known as Mountain Dew?

The Early Years

Mountain Dew started its life in 1932 as a lemon-lime mixer for whiskey at a bar in Tennessee called The Lookout. Like many great inventions throughout time (Facebook, Post-It notes), it was created by accident (aren’t many things?).

The drink became so popular among customers that regional bottlers started producing and distributing it under the name “Mountain Dew.” Between 1948 and 1955, Memphis-based beverage company Brushy Creek Products began developing an entirely new formula based on the original recipe—this version relied heavily upon lime juice—and soon thereafter bought rights to distribute throughout much of Tennessee.

As word spread about this green soda with an uncertain origin story,Fame came calling when PepsiCo purchased ownership rights from Tip Corporation in 1964; their official claim being that they ‘invented’ MD- brand CEO stated: “We believe our purchase assures its future growth rates as part of our expanding operations within PepsiCo North America.”

Enthusiasts Movement

Fast forward several years later: while most carbonated drinks were sticking with tried-and-true formulas,Mtn Dew began experimenting with new flavors and expanded its offerings beyond just the original lemon-lime version. In 1980, the company released “Mountain Dew Classic”, which was a throwback to the drink’s origins-tastes much as it did in those early days.

So effectively we can say that Mountain Dew is always reinventing itself!

Marketing Strategies

Over time, Pepsico has reinvented their marketing strategies around Mtn Dew too- even launching an ad campaign featuring professional skaters and alternative rock music- so since the year MD emerged; MountainDew never lost its touch when it comes to popularity among enthusiasts.

In conclusion, while many soft drinks have come-and-gone throughout history like Tab or Crystal Pepsi – PEPSICO Mountains Dew remains a steadfast favorite among soda drinkers today (or at least until next another caffeinated drink emerges out of nowhere)!
