What to do with inflamed throat?

Ain’t nobody got time for an inflamed throat. It’s itchy, scratchy mess that completely ruins your vibe. And let’s face it, no one wants to hear you wheeze like Darth Vader after a heavy night of partying.

So what do you do when your main vocal instrument isn’t quite up to par? Let’s dive into some solutions!

Drink Water, Like A Boss

Nobody likes dehydration. Being thirsty is as unpleasant as hearing two cats mating in the middle of the night. But dang…water really does help alleviate sore throats.

Dehydration causes mucous membranes in our throat and nose to dry out- the result being inflammation like swat teams at a crime scene (Just without all of the gunfire!!) Drinking water can soothe symptoms and reduce swelling by keeping things moist (much like Tinder on prom night).

If plain old H2O ain’t your jam, add some lemon or ginger slices to mix things up (just remember Notate citrus pericarpiously..or whatever they say)

Behold The Mighty Salt Water Gargle

Salt has always been known for its preservative powers; from salting meat back in medieval England right through until shaking salt over limp avocado toast these days.

But did you know gargling with salty water actually helps too?

When dissolved in warm water, salt helps relax muscles and draw excess fluid out from those swollen glands whilst scattering bacteria off into oblivion (#saltyAF). Super effective if done twice daily #goodbyeinfectedtonsiles

Put Down That Cigarette…..Now!

I don’t want to sound bossy but hang on – this is important! Smoking cigarettes makes everything worse – more specifically an inflamed throat..it reduces immunity levels making us slightly more susceptible than non-smokers’ immune systems are compromised . So if you’re a smoker..it’s time to quit!

Good Ol’ Honey

Honey is Mother Earth’s nectar. It’s sweeter than kittens smooching! For real though, this stuff has powerful antibacterial properties that could help soothe your throat.

Mix a spoonful of honey with lemon juice and warm water to make a super charged hydrating solution.

If All Else Fails: Go To The Chemist

Sometimes even our best efforts aren’t enough, when in doubt get thee TO the chemist (just not like Henry VIII got his wives beheaded) Your trusty pharmacist can hook ya up with some over-the-counter medications (but keep in mind dosing depends on weight so weighing oneself may or may not be essential). Look for acetaminophen or ibuprofen to alleviate pain as well as other NSAIDS which bring relief from irritating inflammation( make sure you follow packaging instructions though…we don’t want any mistakes causing more damage).

Pharmacists can also provide advice about which medicated lozenges/sprays are suitable for those pesky inflamed throats – tonsil-tingling-time here we come!

So there you have it. These tips will (hopefully) bring relief and quell symptoms faster than Thanos snapped his chubby purple fingers. Stay hydrated y’all (#gluglife), inhale honey by the bucketload (#byebyethroat) and overall just try not to become more high maintenance than Mariah Carey….or else…well..let’s just say nobody wants that….

Cheers,
Your dedicated life coach 😉
