What to do if you have a broken ankle?

So, you’ve gone and done it. You managed to break your ankle in the most extraordinary of ways. Your friends are amazed by how unlucky you can be sometimes, but let’s not dwell on that now. Instead, let’s focus on what needs to be done to get you back up and running again.

Step 1: Recognize the symptoms

It might seem obvious, but in order to treat a broken ankle correctly you need to know that it is indeed broken. Look out for any signs of swelling or bruising around your ankle area; redness and tenderness are also common indicators.

Is it sprained or is it broken?

There is an easy way for anyone without an x-ray machine at hand (which we assume applies) – This wae called the “foot wiggle test”. Curl your toes, then try moving your foot from side-to-side as though saying nope-nope-nope repeatedly while trying not move tour hip Joint(at all). If there’s little pain and full range of motion ie its moves easily up-down , left-right ‘if’ then its probably just sprained opposite otherwise it may be serious.

Step 2: Ice Baby!

This isn’t about being cool like Vanilla Ice thought he was back in the day (Anyone remember those baggy pants?), this all about helping relieve some of the pain – nothing beats a good polar ice pack did someone say Cool Runnings 🇯🇲.All I’m saying has close eyes imagine John candy when times where easier
Do this for ten minutes every hour over the first few days…unless instant gratification isn’t really doing anything for ya.

Step 3: Say NO…

…to hopping around like Johnny Walker! Crutches baby yaaa ! Despite our wishes they aren’t secret agent gadgets after developing amazing gadget like a watch that acts as phone, so give yourself some time and master the art of crutching around.

Helpful hint

Choose a leg to hop on and stick with it.This will avoid putting undue pressure on your good ankle. Trust us, you don’t want to break both ..seriously.

Step 4: A dose of pain relief

If only our staff could prescribe something but for legal reasons we cannot, so most common anti-inflammatory medication like Ibuprofen or Aspirin would help keep pain at bay.
Did someone say “Weed?”… jussssst kiddingg..

Take note…

…of any potential allergies before popping pills eg if allergic to aspirin do not take this and vice versa.

Step 5: Holster up!

That’s right.could be just anything from stripping the gun off an overstressed cop once his shiny new knee holster has come in order (that insufferably stiff breeze automatically makes one realize they need EXTRA weapons);
You can also opt for any comfortable supportive cushion-like boots and sneakers or even sandals which have high arch support work well too here.

Remember

Keep away from shoes that snug fit sandal starting can irritate foot inflammation / swelling

Step 6 : Rehab Time!

For anyone who wishs time travel was real,this is what it’s akin doingsome isolated weeks lost in the bunker doing exercise regimes(yes!Real life breakout session). See’s twisted out imagination-borrowed creativity games. Though seriously stay focused . Depends how badly broken.it may involve slow ,painful job relearningto walk again(hang in there.so near yet so far) by rehabbing exercises regularly especially in pool water buoyancy helps remove weight bearing tons.(work smart not hard)

Step 7 – Be Supportive

Got a loved one who has a broken ankle ? Nows the time to step up your game (no pun intended). Think lightening Mcqueen and that sidekick ..what was his name ….yes maaaara in tow annd we are ready. Running errands , helping around the house, reminding them not yo push themselves just yet can be urgly as pain
Support is everything right now 🙂

Important:

Give them some space. They will appreciate supportive vibes but not everyone is into intense fussing so don’t worry about being intrusive all thhheeee emotions.

Step 8- Check In

If it takes little longer than initially expected or You find yourself worrying because its taking a long time ensure you visit doctors back for checkup -just to rule out any other issues no biggie👀..you got this!

Comfort food binges and stiff drinking sessions won’t make things better,ease off maybe ..
