What scabies look like pictures?

If you’re reading this, chances are that you’ve been scratching your skin like a chicken in search of grains! Well, given that the lockdown hasn’t provided any entertainment besides gawking at the four walls around us and finding new excuses to sleep ’til noon, dry patches on your skin have become a new source of interest. In all likelihood, the itching might be due to scabies – an infestation caused by microscopic mites digging into your skin. Fear not, we’ve got just what you need! Funnily enough, here’s everything about ‘What Scabies look like pictures?’, which will put an end to your curiosity forever!

So..what are scabies?

As mentioned earlier, scabies is quite simply when tiny itch mites burrow deep into our skins causing redness and rashes. These little devils can survive there for months laying eggs as they go along- yuck! The most common reason why people tend to get infected is through close contact with someone who already has it or bedding/linen from them (but hey let’s keep things PG in bed!).

Itchy much?

Oh yeah right?! This symptom tends be localized mostly around fingers or toes where these buggers take up residence but can also appear on other body parts such as hands wrists elbows buttocks and groin areas among others cue parasitology exam. Initially though symptoms may take up two-six weeks before surfacing because these darn microbes are smart enough so hang out under undetectable layers.

But don’t fret; typically its night-time when these pests venture out for their feasts from painlessly biting…and THIS could unlock back-scratching therapy sessions that last till dawn. After some days pimple-like bumps emerge sporadically over affected spots which oughta prompt one towards self-inspection pronto.

So if “itching is temporary,” as the famous Instagram quote goes, then why not take pride in sporting fashionable rashes too?! Without further ado let’s dive into understanding what these bumpies look like!

Bumps? Rashes?

Scabies exist primarily under your skin so they tend to create little pimple-like bumps, often located in clusters. Some people may experience intense itching and a reddening of their skin, especially around the area of infestation. If you’re less fortunate than others – who probably still chose to hand out during that unfortunate beach day when scabies was eagerly awaiting new hosts- then the condition might appear as blisters or have tiny red raised dots (which we most definitely wont be sending over for Microbiology Viva round 2).

The rash formed from scabies always tends to follow their journey beneath the skins surface which is anything but cute…but hey! You could finally collect data for pet projects on Dermatology via self-diagnosis.

The Burrow Marks:

These tend to be linear & fine greyish-brown wavy lines usually measuring up-to 3mm long because crawlies lodge themselves underneath our flesh while nudging/feeding /creating space for reproduction. These marks serve as excellent diagnostic indicators since other conditions causing rash such as impetigo, chickenpox or contact dermatitis don’t form itchy tunnels/snail trails.

Let’s Sum It Up

We know all this can get pretty unnerving- a colony gnawing away inside one’s very own skin but remember…there are pictures out there that help us identify such things sooooooo regardless of how gross things sound…it’s important to remain calm(ish) [Fat chance once Google images has been explored]. Scabies can indeed be infectious but can be treated via prescribed medicated creams, so hallelujah there is light at the end of this “tunnel”.

…and if all else fails from things getting too uncomfortable then we could muster up our acting skills and audition for a more advanced remake of ‘Chicken Run’ (maybe rename it ‘Scabies Scamper!’)

Stay Itch-free my friends!
