What is under right rib cage with spasms?
Are you feeling like a human maraca lately? Are your right ribcage spasms making you bounce around like a cactus in the desert during an earthquake? Well, fear not! This article will explore what could be causing those pesky spasms and share some tips on how to get rid of them.
Anatomy Lesson
Let’s start our journey by taking a closer look at the anatomy of the right rib cage. The rib cage consists of 12 pairs of ribs that connect to the spine and wrap around to attach to the breastbone or sternum. Fun Fact: The lowest two ribs are often referred to as floating ribs because they do not attach directly to the sternum.
The area underneath your right rib cage contains several organs, including:
- Liver
- Gallbladder
- Upper portion of your intestines
- Kidney (on your right side)
So when you experience pain or discomfort in this area, it could be related to one or more of these organs.
Possible Causes
Now that we have a basic understanding of what’s under our right rib cage let’s talk about possible causes for those darn spasms!
Muscle Strain
You thought going HAM on bench press was just enough until BOOM!!! You can’t move anymore without immense pain! Hey there, welcome to muscle strain city my friend! Overuse, overstretching or twisting movements can cause muscles in this region ‘pops out’, cause injury & spasm up increasing tension! It’s Best thing ever happened if one questions themselves before lifting weights otherwise they end up doing stupid things which shouldn’t make sense if given some time thinking about their health maintenance.
Acid Reflux
Perhaps worse than having swampy private areas after spending all afternoon long gardening; A return visit from that Mexican food eaten yesterday might go up to your throat! Acid Reflux or Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when acid from the stomach backs up into the esophagus, circulates in bloodstream & contracts with smooth muscles causing PAIN an obvious discomfort under the rib cage also giving that bitter lovely taste to mouth which almost prompts you to cry out of frustration.
Gallstones
We’ve all heard of bladder stones but have you ever heard about gallstones? They are solid deposits that form in your gallbladder, a small organ located just below your liver. When these bad boys get stuck in one of the ducts leading from the gallbladder , it can cause uncomfortable spasms and pain on the right side underneath your ribcage.
Liver Disease
The liver is one of our hardest working organs. It works hard every day like a workaholic without demanding overtime; processing nutrients & detoxifying harmful substances, So What happens when this little guy gets sick? Well, it can lead to infections, liver diseases
and maybe even cancer . One indication that something may be up with your liver is if you experience tenderness or pain near its general location under those ribs!
How to Relieve Rib Cage Spasms
We know muscle spasms can make even simple tasks seem impossible, so let’s talk about some ways we can find relief:
Stretching
Getting Caught up with stretching wouldn’t harm anybody definitely not me (mischievous laugh) Your sore muscles could use a good stretch; focus on expanding gently while applying consistent force by inhaling deeply through nose and exhale slowly via mouth while focusing onto relaxing affected part!
Try This: Find a wall done running for shelter as soon as possible!, bend knees roughly 3ft away from wall-place hands flat against said wall at shoulder height -flatten back-posture straight- maintain distance by gradually inching forward or increasing pressure against wall.
Heat Therapy
Heat Therapy, You cannot beat it if you eat it! Now the tasteless cliches are out of the way. Heating pads, Microvawable wheat packs may also ease your spasms by increasing blood flow and circulation to affected area encouraging heavy duty muscle tissue repair!
Try This: Place a heating pad in a pillowcase (but chill; do not let anyone come around thinking that you’ve bought another human for keeping); make sure heat level is ‘comfortably hot’, place directly on affected side & feel those peaceful waves loosen tension under rib cage-aaahhh yes , bliss!!
Over-The-Counter Medication
Finally, taking an over-the-counter medication can help alleviate the discomfort caused by spasms. Anti-inflammatory Medications are often used as pain killers while Muscle-relaxants can relieve exhausted muscles when they wont calm down voluntarily..
When to Seek Medical Help
While these remedies might provide temporary relief for many individuals suffering from right rib cage spasms, there are situations where seeking medical attention is necessary:
- If symptoms persist
- The intensity of pain increases
-Trouble breathing
-Fever accompanies belly ache spells; Can’t get some sleep which affects daily activities.
When any of these symptoms occur please don’t just cope with them hoping that its passing phase -get yourself checked!.
In Conclusion
Right rib cage spasms could be extremely uncomfortable & put daily routines off track completely!. But in most cases home treatments including stretching, heating therapy and OTC medications will work like champ till we visit our doctor. Although , respecting how complex this region is –It’s recommended not ignoring continuous pains but contacting a medical professional qui-kly instead. So we hope this article has been helpful thank you so much for reading with us cue audience clapping.
