What is stomach bile?

Have you ever heard of stomach bile? If you haven’t, don’t worry, it’s not some fancy new restaurant dish. It’s actually a vital component in our digestive system. In this article, we will dive into the delicious details of what stomach bile really is and how it works to help us digest our food.

Let the Digestion Begin!

The Body Squad: Organs that Help Digest
As we chew up and swallow our food (Sorry for being graphic here!) it makes its way down into our bellies where a team of organs kick into action to break down (Digest!) everything before absorbing nutrients from what’s left over.
These organs include:

  • Mouth & Teeth
  • Esophagus
  • Stomach
  • Pancreas
  • Liver and
    -Most importantly gallbladder.

Each organ plays their role so perfectly together that without one member of this squad – like the sidekick in every teamwork situation – digestion can be disrupted or even halted altogether))

It’s important to keep note (Please Write This Down!) when any one part fails isn’t working properly – your body with start showing signs something wrong!!

Let’s move on…

So What Exactly Is Stomach Bile?

Stomach bile is produced by your liver (nice gland right) as well as stored within little buddies located inside your gallbladder(:D). They both work together quite magically inside your upper abdomen .

Without getting too technical(No need here!), ) bile consists mainly of water along with various other components like cholesterol, pretty much all electrolytes (very proud about knowing these)- namely sodium, potassium, magnesium), pigments such bilirubin responsible for urine color as well(told ya I know my stuff!).

Oh but wait there!!! One major ingredient included are salts called bile acids. These are critical ingredients that aid your body in breaking down fat during the digestion process.

Why Stomach Bile is So Important?

Digestion Authority – Beat for Their Jobs!
Bile plays one of the most important roles when it comes to breaks down nutrients from fats i.e., mmm burritos!. With-out bile or some other substitute, our bodies would have trouble digesting fatty foods

In addition to this what’s interesting (pretty cool right) about bile is its role as an effective eliminator (Goodbye yucky stuff!). Since it contains waste like bilirubin(because nobody wants their body excreting too much bilirubin). When we eat junky food over time and little by little, toxins can build up which interferes with liver function(we don’t want that!).

How Does Bile Work?

Great Question- here goes…

When you ingest a meal filled with butter-drenched pasta (drool) or a juicy bowl of meaty stew(more drooling please!), stomach contents move into small intestine through pyloric valve(where they meet underdog part aka pancreas) before moving further into large intestine and eventually out ahem through rear end exits. During this journey-bile gets released which helps break up all those scrumptious tasty fats mentioned earlier……..

(forgot where I was going :S)
Ah yes, moving on…

The bile then flows down your digestive tract getting mixed in with partially digested substances making it easy for enzymes produced within intestinal wall lining carry-on digest big chunks(sounds gross but true!)…. Sounds simple right – Spoiler alert-it isn’t.

What Happens if Your Body Doesn’t Have Enough Stomach Bile?

Without enough stomach bile present during digestion?? ………hmmm let’s just say things get a bit complicated(messy really!!).

If there isn’t enough bile present in the digestive system:

  • The body has a tough time absorbing fatty nutrients and can easily get rid of them through bowel movements
  • Problems with eliminating any toxins or waste from the body(unpleasant!!)
  • Jaundice (caused by the accumulation bilirubin, think yellow eyes)
  • Nausea/Vomiting(It’s like your stomach is throwing up its hands!)

On other hand excess presence of Stomach Bile might lead to

● Diarrhea(@$#$!!!)
● Fatigue(Lethargy at its best!)
● Weakness(shaky legs here I come )

How to Tell If Your Body Isn’t Producing Enough Bile?

Simple – keep track of bodily changes. (Sorry Could not resist saying it!)

More specifically, if you’re experiencing any issues when passing stool(i.e., diarrhea), droopy tiredness(need your bed all day? ), nauseating/upset tummy(ewww). These could be an indication that there may not be enough bile being produced.

This could result in difficulties digesting foods and clearing out unwanted toxins which as mentioned before doesn’t make digestion fun at all.

In Conclusion,

Stomach Bile plays a crucial role in our everyday digestion journey from knocking down those greasy side dishes to removing harmful substances within our bodies – it does it all!!

While we barely give second thoughts about what happens during processing everything we stuff into our tummies (Can only wonder how things would have been different had they called Digestion Class ‘ How Things Work Inside Your Body’ instead ?) hopefully this article helps explain how amazing(or disgusting depending on perspective) our digestive system really is!
