  • For cream products : For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes, nose, mouth or vagina. Apply neck to toes, under nails and tissue folds. Bathe after 8-14 hours to wash cream off. Itching will gradually decrease over 4 weeks. Wash clothing/bedding or do not use for 3 days. Close contacts should be treated at the same time. Call doctor if you are not getting better.
  • For liquid products : Not recommended when breast feeding. Avoid eyes, inside of nose, ears, or mouth. Wash affected area before applying. Shake well before using. Use special comb to remove lice and eggs. Wash clothing and bedding in hot water and dryer. Check household members for infestation. Clean your house thoroughly.

If permethrin gets in the eyes it can cause redness, pain or burning. If people eat permethrin it could cause sore throat, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting.

    How safe is permethrin? Permethrin has little systemic absorption, and is considered safe for topical use in adults and children over the age of two months. The FDA has assigned it as pregnancy category B. Animal studies have shown no effects on fertility or teratogenicity, but studies in humans have not been performed.

    How often can you use Permethrin cream? Use two applications of permethrin cream, seven days apart. Your whole body must be treated with the cream. Leave each application on for 8-12 hours, then wash the cream off with soap and water.

    How long does permethrin last? Permethrin SFR 36.8% will last for about 3 years from the date of purchase as long as it is stored out of extreme temperatures and out of direct sunlight.

    Can you make permethrin cream? Permethrin works by paralyzing and killing the mites and their eggs. This medication is for use on the skin only. Apply this medication as soon as possible after it is prescribed. Apply the medicine from your head to the soles of your feet , including under your nails and in skin folds such as between the toes, as directed.
