What is considered a mental breakdown?

Let’s get one thing clear: There are no actual “rules” for what is considered a mental breakdown (whatever that means). However, there are some common symptoms and behaviors that can give us an idea of when someone might be going through it.

First things first…

Defining Mental Breakdown

The term “mental breakdown” isn’t actually an official or medical diagnosis. Instead, it’s more of a catch-all phrase to describe when someone experiences severe emotional distress or extreme psychological trauma (cue scary music).

These kinds of experiences can trigger a wide range of reactions in different people, including anxiety attacks, panic episodes, depression symptoms, self-harm tendencies… you name it!

Hey! Don’t Panic Yet

It’s important to note that experiencing any kind of mental health issue doesn’t automatically mean you’re having a mental breakdown. In fact, most people experience some form of emotional distress at one point or another (yup – even your cute grandma).

However:

Sometimes It Really IS Time to Freak Out (Sort Of)

There are definitely moments where signs like these can signal something more serious:

  • Feeling overwhelmed with daily tasks
  • Having trouble sleeping/experiencing nightmares frequently
  • Losing interest in activities once enjoyed
  • High sensitivity towards criticisms
  • Not being able to control emotions/feelings

Don’t worry though! This doesn’t always mean everything has taken its toll on your mind yet.

Soooo When Do I Know If I’m REALLY Going Through It?

Here’s the tricky part – everyone handles stress differently which basically means y’alls tolerance differs too! It boils down to these three questions:

1) Does this feel like me? Are my emotions way outta whack compared to how I usually act/felt?
2) Is this affecting daily life? Am I skipping important tasks/engagements because of it?
3) Has this lasted awhile? Is this emotion hindering my daily life after not improving over weeks?

If you answered positively to any or all 3 questions, chances are high that you might be going through a mental breakdown.

Alright Someone Help! What Can I Do About It?

This one’s easy: take some time for yourself. As soon as those symptoms start acting up – affirmativeyou know what they look like now! Excuse yourself from where ever you’re currently at; find a quiet spot and breathe deeply through your nose. Hold for 3 seconds then exhale slowly. This may create a momentary release from being overwhelmed by everything around you.

Torturing yourself with anxiety attacks won’t do much good so gather support to help ease the weight of your distressing emotions. Contact people whom which validates your thoughts such as friends/family members who understand when something’s hurting even without stating it outrightly.

So don’t gotta suffer in silence either! Get professional help if things are getting outta hand (hate peeps who use ‘gotta’ in writeups). Even methods online such as video conferencing sessions work incredibly well (we love improvements thanks to technology).

It can feel scary reaching out but there is absolutely no shame if self-help isn’t cutting it anymore

Who Are Ya Gonna Call?! Psychologists!

Definitely get advice on how best to deal with mental breakdown(s) Symptoms now BUT dont chase just anyone wearing lab coats ~~trust me~~ .

You need someonequalified e.g., psychologists – They’ve got their PhD, years of training & experience under their belts especially dealing with severe emotional upheaval (Think: own agenda rather than solving your issues!).

Watch Out!

The signs for the brink of a mental breakdown have already been listed above. You’re more prone to experience these symptoms when constantly dealing with an outcome, which clearly weighs down on you. Essentially struggling to nurture ourselves adequately and persistently guarding against whatever causes negativity can lead us there.

It’s important to take notice of how we handle daily tasks so that I don’t get overwhelmed sooner or later!

Try relying on emotionally charged activities like meditation (please), yoga, therapy sessions & hobbies especially knitting~~- ugly sweater season is around baby!~~

Remember: The key takeaway is that it’s completely okay – even normal –to go through bouts of emotional distress from time to time. Of course, if those feelings start interfering too much with our daily lives over a sustained period…that’s where things could get even more serious.

In Summary

  1. Going through emotions + overwhelming stress-day(s)=!mental breakdown
  2. When it starts slippin’ into daily life regression-guilt + indefinite existence = possible breakdown!
  3. Solutions? Take some quiet breaths; be sure not going through it alone;professionals are in
4.Watch signs-i.e., experiencing/dealing out defeat behavior WHILE juggling duties & miscellaneous task can increase likeliness ratio.
    5.Lastly what does ‘perfect’=mediation,nurturing healthier habits(e.g.hobbies!)
