What I Lost: What Did I Have That I Don’t Have?

We all go through phases in life where we feel like something is missing. We start to question ourselves and wonder what it is that we had before that we don’t have anymore. Well, my friend, you’re not alone! Let’s take a look at some of the things that we might’ve lost along the way.

My Carefree Attitude

When did life become so serious? I used to be able to laugh things off and not worry about every little detail. Now, everything feels like it’s hanging on by a thread. The weight of responsibility has taken over and suddenly, there are no more days lived without consequence.

My Sense of Adventure

Something tells me bungee jumping isn’t going to be on my bucket list anytime soon. I used to love trying new things and taking risks but nowadays, even getting out of bed feels like a huge accomplishment.

My Innocence

Remember when ignorance was bliss? When the world felt safe and secure because nothing bad ever seemed to happen? Yeah… those were the good ole’ days. Nowadays it seems impossible to shield myself from all the horrors that exist in this world.

My Confidence

There was once a time where rejection didn’t phase me in the slightest. But now? Every ‘no’ feels like it hits harder than before – almost as if someone stole my cape back when I wasn’t looking.

Time

Time truly is a precious commodity – just ask any person with deadlines looming over their head or bills piling up next to them on their desk (looking at you Mr Tax Collector). Where did all these responsibilities come from anyways?

Well..that certainly took a turn for depressing real quick! Quite frankly though; perhaps we should stop dwelling on what could’ve been! Life is too short after-all!

Here are some things that we should focus on instead:

My Bad Habits

Getting rid of bad habits can be challenging, but it’s worth it for the sake of our mental and physical health. Perhaps consider leaving a food diary or trying out different apps which notify you when to take breaks from certain activities.

Self-awareness

Noticing something within yourself is an awesome first step! Being able to see what makes you you allows growth, helps identify your preferences and subsequently attracts better opportunities in life.

My Strengths

It’s important to acknowledge what we’re good at – whether it be writing articles (Nailed It), singing karaoke like no one else can beat (cough cough) or even baking cakes that guarantee cavities (not responsible).

And finally…

Humor!

Laughter is truly the best medicine. Nothing feels quite as satisfying as a full-bellied laugh shared with loved ones (or strangers). Be fearless in telling insightful jokes; humor has been proven time after time to reduce stress levels making everything feel much lighter than before!

In summary, yes there are certainly aspects of ourselves we may have lost, however by focussing on developing self awareness and identifying real strengths – look ahead towards a future filled with laughter aplenty! And hey..if all else fails? Find some cute pictures of puppies online (always works wonders)!
