What happened to nivea?

If you’ve ever walked into a drugstore, you are familiar with the brand Nivea. But, have you noticed how their products seem to be disappearing from the shelves? What’s happening to Nivea? In the past few years, they have had some major changes happen in their company that have left consumers wondering where they stand. Here’s what we know so far:

A Brief History of Nivea

Nivea has been around since 1911 when it was created by a German chemist named Paul Carl Beiersdorf (who probably had an awesome mustache). It started out as just one product – a skin cream that would go on to become one of the most well-known and respected brands in skincare globally.

Over time, its product offerings have grown extensively from lotions and creams for various skin types including anti-ageing formulas, sunscreen lotion & more while expanding its distribution in different regions of the world.

With this history behind us now let’s find out what happened recently:

Disappearing Act

One minute it seemed like every store carried at least one type of nivea cream or lotion- but now walk into any drugstore today and there is no guarantee niveas products will even occupy pride of place on retail shelves (even though who doesn’t love stumbling upon promotional hordes like ‘buy one get two free offer’?) Gone are those days it seems (but hey! Worry not, I’m pretty sure we’ll come back strong)

So why did all these famous nivea products suddenly vanish overnight (or over-month) ?

Mergers & Acquisitions

The answer lies largely within mergers and acquisitions made between companies in which Beirsdorf (the parent company for Nivea)- got caught-up itself.

In 2014 La Prairie USA took-over Jazaloco Inc, -a manufacturer of private label skincare products It was a deal worth pushing over the $4million mark. A year later and in the same vein Beirsdorf took-over a brand new acquired business- Labello (read: say what now?) . Now while Nivea remained its own central product these buy-outs put their erstwhile status quo at risk.

Differentiated Product Focus

Another thing we know as a fact is that Nivea has been taken more selective about the markets it focuses on (could you really blame them though?)

Going forward (because who wants to move backwards)Nivea will reportedly focus on Core Markets such as Europe ,Middle East & Africa- Even developing consumer conditions within select regions instead of diversifying haphazardly into multiple territories where people may not fully appreciate their cream’s utility (and promise).

Further reports speculate that there are various reasons behind this strategy – for instance one can be seen through how niveas ad campaigns have changed across different regions; with evidence supporting the designs focused more centrally around ideals associated in European style which could suggest an eagerness to be nearer home(DoH)

The Future Still Looks Bright

At this point, it’s still too early to determine whether or not these changes are permanent or if they’ll continue far longer than expected but seeing how much investment and care goes into developmentally oriented strategies by brands like Nivea (the very act of branding indicates some trust from leadership), I’d bet most consumers would still expect quality-like performance backed-up by effective research before going ahead to Make any purchase.

Now yeah, we admit it’s unfunny when something familiar seems lost-but that wont stop us from hoping #NIVEA shines brighter because lets face it – We all want our products back!
