What causes urine to have blood?
Bloody hell, what a sight! You pee, you look down, and there’s freaking blood in your piss. That little red hue might give you heart palpitations if you’re one who likes to mix humor and darkness.
Relax! Although it may be alarming when urine contains blood(technical term: hematuria), remember that most of the time, this doesn’t automatically mean someone has cancer or some terrible disease. The underlying reasons for peeing bloody Mary are much more varied.
So before we dive into those ocean-deep waters as curious cats, here’s a fair warning:
The content ahead is not meant to provide medical advice. It is still best practice for individuals experiencing symptoms of illness or pain to seek professional health assistance immediately. We’re trying hard not to horrify people too much with our explanations!
Hemoglobinuria: A Bloody Good Start
Blood shouldn’t be rocket science; everybody knows that little fact about life (or afterlife). So why exactly does urine contain traces of human mortality?
Well folks grab a drink(or maybe two?), because we’ll be talking today about “hemoglobin” which sounds like an anime character but actually isn’t.
Hemoglobin’s job is simple yet important –to transport oxygen through the body via red blood cells throughout every nook and cranny of both men and women alike.
However, sometimes things don’t go as expected(ouch!). When hemolytic anemia happens- red blood cells get destroyed at an increased rate than new ones can produce leading us mortals on earth left with something called “hemoglobinuria.” This means that unchecked hemoglobins circulate around the bloodstream until they end up leaking out through our urethras right where they aren’t welcome -in pee(which according to research does’n taste like lemonade– bummer).
Also take note fellas ,You should also know that our dear kidneys, just like us humans have preference(seems like ‘let’s talk about sex’ kind of thing). Their preferred taste – oxygen-deprived hemoglobin to be exact. ha ha ha!
But the truth is – if they get more than what they bargained for in terms of excess blood, our little renal units suffer leading us to a bloody conclusion.
Urinary Tract Infection Is No Fun
Whereas UTIs are incredibly common among women ( up to 50% of them experience it once before reaching adulthood), men can still catch them too.
Easy-to-treat yet incredibly painful; urinary tract infections or UTIs will add a touch of plague on your everyday life with its burning sensation everytime you pee.( Yikes!)
If an infection makes their way into the urethra(it’s very much possible provided you always forget the golden rule: “Wipe from front to back”) and aren’t eliminated via “peeing”(which we all hope happens every time) then things could worsen quite quickly whereby bacteria climb their way up right into your bladder yuuuch!) Once there, dangerous bacteria multiply rapidly which leads us mortals left with symptoms ranging from painless urination, sharp pelvic pains , and heavy bladders Oh! Did I mention fever? You might start experiencing high fevers when everything goes really wrong.
So where does that leave urine? Well my friend in such scenarios urine chums this yellow liquid out along with white(wbc contains pus chances are), red blood cells and obviously rests of those pesky bacteria these two together creates quite a unique maroon tint making pee look like some bad nightmare juice.
Kidney Stones Ain’t Cute Anymore
Kidney stones feel as fun as they sound(you don’t wanna know how awful this sound). These minerals accumulate slowly over time in one’s body until one day- bam! Tissue of kidney is damage which the body wall prolong and thus increase a person’s risk to another infection.
Here’s the painful kicker: when urine contains blood iturethra sorta reflects those internal injuries through those darn rocks. So, think of passing an actual jagged-edged rock piece (and that phrase “taking a piss” suddenly feels like understatement), leaving you with not only physical marks but psychological ones too!
Coagulant Medications Have Side Effects
Oh pharmaceutical wonders, where would we be without them? Of course, never side effects-free – but than who cares!(pharmaceutical industry people do)
Some medications known as coagulants are intended to prevent clotting or break down already formed clots in certain individuals’ bloodstream(who says nobody thinks about that?). Wherein- because their medicinal qualities designed by some diabolical pharmacy team -blood thinners work almost too well.
The medication has the potential to cause excessive bleeding which given enough time will impact one’s urinary system(causing bloody pee). While far less common compared to other aspects above mentioned, increased drug usage leads us mortals left with noticeable traces during visiting damn restrooms– oh happy days!
Also worth noting-it could make surgery risks worse since patients’ healing rates become substantially slower(bummer!)
Kidney Biopsies Can Lead To Bloody Pee
Sometimes, medical professionals need even more precise data. Thus they chose surgeries/biopsies for safe context gathering -I say this while facepalm-ing profusely!.
Kidney biopsies use hollow needles specifically engineered for navigation into these meats sacks(via skin), taking tissue samples slowly and steadily across several sessions if necessary ,often used in cases involving transplant-related transplants or cancer diagnosis(again sounds great!).
But any fan knows mistakes can happen anytime anywhere being perfect isn’t human after all
Complications associated with biopsy include gross hematuria – which comes from breaking tissy, the blood of which can leak directly into urinal outputs.
Cancer Can Be A Culprit Too
Le cancer-the silent killer(means “cancer” in French)– everyone knows what that is..!
The moment we hear about blood in urine, our minds jump right to cancer diagnosis. Sadly friends this possibility could happen(nooo!), so don’t panic too much until a doctor has formally diagnosed(which makes me sound like some sort of uptight parent!)
Whether it be kidney or bladder cancers (which often lead to outwardly telltale peeing signs along with subtler symptoms such as loss of appetite), it’s best to act immediatly-if you think there’s any chance your case falls on the darker side.
Checking up via x-rays and biopsies are ways doctors go ahead confirming if such is true-treatment options will differ depending upon how advanced an individual’s situation stands– hopefully it all ends well!
=====
In conclusion, bloody pee isn’t just terrifying-it would also take away lot joy outof someone’s lives(based on random internet survey). That being said however-fear over these curiosities should not be taken lightly; oftentimes they simply alert us individuals’ attention that something’s awry with our bodily functions. And then once given treatment/attention returns hardy bodies back to laughing loudly and eating spicy food without worries(we hope!).
