What causes peritonsillar abscess?

Let me tell you a funny story, folks. One day, I woke up with a swollen throat and a fever that could rival the sun’s temperature. It felt like hot coals in my mouth, but I couldn’t keep my yap shut because it hurt too much to swallow.

I was stuck eating popsicles for days until an ENT doctor diagnosed me with peritonsillar abscess (PTA). This occurrence made me wonder, what causes this pesky infection? So I did some digging around and here’s what I found out:

Go Deep: An Overview on PTA & How It Happens

Before we dive deep into the root cause of PTA,let’s understand its definition first. A peritonsillar abscess happens when pus pockets form in your tonsils’ adjacent tissue. It is usually due to an untreated sore throat or bacterial infection.

In severe cases, they require draining by an surgeon – yikes! The most common symptom being pain that radiates from one side of the throat as well as difficulty swallowing food or liquids without experiencing intense pain (a.k.a., “my torturous existence”).

So how does this awful thing happen?

Well…to bacteria who take residence there thank to poor oral hygiene or accidents interrupting normal tissue healing rountines such illnesses like cancer. So stay healthy!

Looks down at own rotten teeth:

“Oopsie!”

Delicious Tonsils Cause of PTA

Your tonsils are incredibly fleshy beings located at both sides of your tongue just behind those pearly whites called molars- After all humans have five taste buds; sweet, sour, salty, bitter & umami( best name ever right?). These delicious-looking engines grossly patrol germs trying to enter our body through our mouth by producing saliva filled with enzymes & antibodies. So now you know why taking care of your oral hygiene is important! Otherwise, nasty bacteria will slip past your tonsils and make themselves at home.

Yummy!

Partying Under The Skin With Bacteria

“Party like a rockstar!” is not just a song but an invitation to multiple viruses and bacterial infections. Just imagine: one minute, you’re having some cold drinks with the gang, laughing it up over good times when suddenly “downers,” aka disease-causing bacteria (a.k.a., “gatecrashers”), come in uninvited.

These malevolent microbes won’t only interfere with healthy living tissue but also damage other corners of your body like lymph nodes located on each side or underneath them; essentially, what we’re saying here is that bacteria can cause PTA.
No sneezing boys and girls please!!

Breathing In Bacterial Germs—The Nose Knows No Junk!

We breathe through our noses every day without thinking much about it. Little do people know how easy it’s for germs to sneak into our nose holes right along with oxygen – yuck!

Once these bugs take up residence there undetected by immune system that may be compromised from illness/disease; voila!, they begin spreading all over hands, nose,& eyes until eventually arriving at their final destination – thoughful creators arrive peritonsillar areas which are perfect spots because the tissue-and-blood-borne-delights found there provide ideal conditions for proliferation…think fungus-like growths without any form of containment therapy – no thanks!

So dear breath-holders amongst us: stop trying so hard as nothing can spoil the party atmosphere quite like holding your breath.

Hold your breath-know better!!

Crack Pain Equals A Possible Wardrobe Malfunction That Causes PTA

Imagine this scenario: You’re stylishly dressed in sleek clothing head-to-toe ready to meet friends at a trendy bar, when all of a sudden, pharyngitis’s (a.k.a., “sore throat”) shows up unannounced. Oww! You quickly start taking antibiotics but now you’ve got an uncontrollable cough which sounds like something out of The Exorcist. Fear not; this new symptom merely means that absent-mindedly you have cracked your voice box due to excess cracking in speaking or singing.

Stuck with green snot leaking from our noses and whites patches plus smelly breath caused by drainage? Folks look no further than the tongue!

Tonsil Stones: Uh What Are Those?

The human body is frequently mysterious – one minute it’s fine & dandy then suddenly we’re faced with some mystery ailment called tonsilloliths or tonsil stones…yikes!

After becoming impacted within certain cryptic structures present on surrounding environment such as salivary glands near more soft palate areas creates stinky stuff after fermenting inside your mouth alongwith oral debris created especially for those stubborn deposits similar in appearance kids discovered insects rocks…

Yeah dear readers!,YAY FUN!!

That begs the question – is there anything else that can cause PTA beyond what we’ve already discussed ? Truthfully ,nothing beats unfortunate synergistic exchange involving immune systems autoimmune diseases such lupus,Scleroderma(irritability), sarcoidosis, tumors located around neck area just behind where skin meets between collarbones.{pl don’t google- too hard to understand}.No doubt plenty others exist.”

So folks make sure y’all take care of yourselves cuz ya never know when germs decide to invade your amazing body! After all, who wants a visit from unwanted or uninvited family?
