What can i do for a cracked rib?

Oh no! You’ve gone and cracked your rib. How did you manage that? Were you being too adventurous, trying out a wild new dance move or attempting to climb Mount Everest without any training?

Regardless of how it happened, a cracked rib is nothing to joke about. It’s painful and can make simple tasks like breathing difficult. But don’t worry, we’ve got your back (or rather, your chest) with some helpful tips on what you can do to ease the pain.

Take It Easy

First things first: it’s important to take care of yourself when dealing with a cracked rib (or as I like to call them, busted tacos). Rest is key in allowing the injury time to heal correctly.

Make sure that you avoid strenuous activity (yes that includes winning an iron man competition) that could cause further damage. We know sitting around doing nothing isn’t always the most thrilling pastime but trust us–it’s better than making matters worse!

Keep Moving (Slowly)

While rest might be essential for healing after cracking your ribs, lying down or staying sedentary all day isn’t going to help either (aka lazy reactivity doesn’t work here).

Gently stretching and moving around should allow for improved mobility in both lung function and musculature located around the affected area (bonus extending helps alleviate inflammation by getting oxygenated blood flowing which will aid in recovery). However let me remind you gentlemen slow and steady wins this race, so there’s no need to overdo it at this stage.

Apply Heat & Cold…But Be Careful!

Heat therapy via hot water bottles or heating pads may also provide relief from soreness due inflamed tissues caused by muscle strain…caution though if recent application has allowed complete self indulgence as improper usage risks mild burns; heat shouldn’t be applied directly to skin for an extended period of time (We don’t want you to go from Rocky Balboa to Sebastian the Crab).

On the other cold is clutch when it comes inflammation relief in helping curb nerve impulses and also helps reduce severe pain felt. But like with using heat, moderation is key here as too much could risk frostbite! You’re not trying to end up in Arendale with some frost bitten fingers thanks to queen Elsa

Call In The Big Guns

If your rib pain feels unmanageable or has become debilitating then medication such non-stroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) (chill out there bud no one said aspirin’s name) can provide a temporary source of comfort- just so we’re clear prescribed ones are recommended instead over-the-counter choices (Better safe than sorry), kindly run any options by your doctor first before popping them though!

Be Mindful Of Your Breathing Patterns

It goes without saying but eh…little reminders never hurt anyone right?take extra care on this one since chest muscles stretch each time air fills lungs; breathe deeply often and carefully allow keeping healthy lungs inflation fluid- making sure that they stay working perfectly.

Shallow breathing tends towards resulting in weaker lung function which makes painful breathing even harder compared the whats situation already present. Not fun indeed.

Chuck Down That Cigarette Like A Pro Baseball Player

Cigarettes once again prove themselves easily replaceable. So if ever you’ve prioritized long term health I implore disassociating oneself from smoking after cracking ribs/ injuring muscles around chest area given their potential damage inflicted upon our delicate tissues during healing processes….

Of course T.S Eliot didn’t help things mentioning April being these month with its crisp air encouraging inhaling poisonous toxins into fragile damaged recovering bodies – what was he thinking?!?

All jokes aside though it pays staying away totally till at the very least the cracked rib fully dissolves which should take roughly around six weeks.

Final Thoughts

Cracking a rib is indeed quite painful but its important to remember that with proper care and attention, the pain will ease accordingly overtime(Just because as Calvin says you’ll someday smile at this moment). We hope these tips come in handy to help guide you through the potential ennui ahead even if reading it all again another time may spell out much better clarity when explaining/answering questions regarding your experience. So there yah go, cheers!
