What are the signs of trichomoniasis?

Do you know what is worse than having a bad hair day? Trichinosis, pronounced tri-ko-muh-NYE-uh-sis which stands for another STD. Yay!

I’m not judging your sex life (okay maybe I am), but if you’re experiencing unusual discharge or a burning sensation down under, then it’s time to see a doctor. Don’t worry; this article has got you covered in case there was ever any confusion and all.

Overview

Trichomoniasis affects both men and women mostly during sexual intercourse with an already infected partner! Yes sir( wink). And don’t be mistaken my honey buns, just because somebody doesn’t have visible symptoms does not mean they cannot infect others.

However, before we get too deep into the sickness (yikes ) let me put forth some brief facts that will give you a general understanding about our subject here:

  • Trichomonas vaginalis is the parasite responsible
  • This -itis virus spreads during unprotected sex
Oh well… Let us dive right in mess now; Symptoms!

The Signs To Look Out For

Symptoms usually develop within one month after contracting tricho-bunch-of-alphabets (crazy names). However, sometimes people may never experience any symptom at all nor understand that they’ve been affected.

-Men:
Some of our walking sticks might experience irritation inside their penis (ouch!)or around the tip as well as watery discharge(ewww!). Unfortunately,(sorry blokes)there’s no way out when it comes to it.
Ladies:
For those who receive monthly bills from mother nature(periods) (if you know what I mean winks), Having trico-whatever would make things even more uncomfortable than normal periods. They could feel severe itching, the colouration of their vagina turns reddish or pink and have smelly discharge. You might as well think of it as red alert to go see your doctor (rolls eyes).

Diagnosis

Trichomoniasis is sometimes referred to as “trick” because it can be hard to detect, even with routine STD tests. A microscopic examination and/or lab test are usually needed for diagnosis.

  • Microscopic examination: In this method a sample of vaginal fluid,is examined under the microscope before detecting the parasite.

  • Lab Tests :There’s also DNA probe testing available which indicates either negative or positive results.

Your body alone unfortunately cannot fight off trifling(may I say this?) tricho-ma-whatever by itself; a doctor will prescribe anti-parasite pills that you’ll have to take orally. The treatment regime consists most of 1 day usage but people should avoid sex,to abstain from infecting another partner during their infectious period.

Prevention

Abstinence ,Using protection condom (or dental caps,if dares 😉) regular check ups even if there’s no symptoms detected yet. With any luck,it would help curtail the risk of contacting trickeries(hahahaha),much more like playing yourself than playing with fire😂.

The Bottom Line

Being infected by Trichomoniasis really isn’t anything new right? But nobody wants all that drama happening in their pants area.Let’s hope in bold, that while we try our best in being sexually active humans occasional mishaps won’t get us affected.

To sum up,

Symptoms present within one month(1month) after contracting
Routine clinic check-ups advised
Treatment regimes strictly excluded sexual activeness until expiry is over.
Prevention advisable through abstinence and use condoms regularly during sexual actions,
…And oh! Major caution necessary against “unprotection”
So now you know folks… stay safe out there!!!!!
