So kick back, relax, and take a deep breath as we embark on an exciting journey through the world of proper breathing.

What is Breathing?

Breathing is an involuntary process necessary for life in many organisms. It involves inhaling oxygen-rich air into your lungs and exhaling carbon dioxide. While most people do it automatically without much thought, there are some who need guidance on how to optimize their respiratory systems fully.

For those struggling with respiration issues caused by lung diseases such as COPD or asthma or experiencing heightened levels of anxiety due to daily stresses (who doesn’t?), learning proper breathing techniques can make all the difference.

The foundation for healthy living begins with good respiration because having sufficient oxygen in our bodies prevents diseases like hypertension and cancer wowza! The deeper we breathe, the more effectively our heart pumps blood throughout our veins – leading us toward healthier lives amazing, isn’t it?

But wait; that’s not all folks! Did you know following proper breathing techniques calms down your brain too? So why continue hyperventilating? Ease up already!

So what exactly are these “proper” ways I hear so much about?

Diaphragmatic Breathing:

Let’s begin by teaching ourselves one practical technique called “diaphragmatic” reaching. You must involve using your diaphragm, an essential muscle located between your lungs and abdomen.

Here’s a quick exercise that can get you started:

  1. Lay down or sit in a comfortable position.
  2. Relax your shoulders.
  3. Put one hand on your chest and the other on your stomach – this ensures the diaphragm muscles support breathing efficiently.
  4. Breathe slowly through your nose for about two minutes until every inhalation/outtake lasts around four seconds each cycle if it helps.

If you’ve done correctly, with practice, these exercises will become second nature as diaphragmatic breathing becomes routine; lowering resting heart rate, aided digestion (sorry food lovers), reducing anxiety levels, etc. Yay!

Belly Breathing

Now we move onto belly breathing/(otherwise known as ‘abdominal’ breathing). Essentially it is getting deeper breaths by focusing more on expanding our stomach regions rather than rising our chests; hence providing better oxygen to vital organs like the liver and kidney (move over chest my tummy seeks attention).

Want some hands-on experience?

  1. Place yourself in a lying-down/sitting-up position while wearing loose-fitted clothes/can’t breathe either way?
  2. Take a deep breath via inhaling from nostrils for 6-7 seconds
  3. Purge all air out of your mouth
  4. Keep doing steps 2-5 several times before seeing results positively happen (like flexing sexy abs‼)

Confucius rightly said: “with exhalation comes renewal,” so don’t wait up amigos! Now that you have mastered small victories in life let’s try something exciting next..

The Bellows Breathing Technique

The bellows technique requires practitioners to breathe rapidly using their noses/so I recommend cleaning those nostrils beforehand/. It focuses on strengthening the body from within when performed regularly enough by increasing overall resilience if mastered properly (maybe see a doctor?).

The steps are simple:

  1. Sit up straight and rest your hands on your knees or fold them serenely in prayer /whatever’s comfortable/ with eyes closed.
  2. Inhale quickly via the nose while expanding as much air possible to fill every corner of the lungs
  3. Exhale rapidly using forceful exhalations, almost like you’re breathing out through a straw (imagine attempting to vogue).

This process is about achieving strength from within by oxygenating organs effectively – limiting fatigue and also playing into stress responses that yield better outcomes if done routinely (Don’t we all need a little ‘tough’ love some days?).

Imagine being somebody who can do this successfully and with ease, wow.

The Importance of Breathing

It goes without saying proper breathing techniques would positively impact our daily lives allowing us to become healthier individuals! Just take my buddy Jack here; he has developed his mind-body practice over time realizing how intermittent deep-breathing exercises have improved everything ranging from focus, energy balance…and even quality sleep!

So don’t be hesitant; give it ago dear readers under any circumstance hygiene levels included!

You’ll soon be abundantly surprised just how following basic tips mentioned above could attain fulfilling healthy living goals beyond what anyone ever knew!
