Ultimate Self-Care: What to Do on a Self Care Day
Ah, self-care. An elusive concept that many of us talk about but few of us actually do. It’s time to change that! In this article, we’ll explore all the delectable ways you can treat yo’ self and indulge in some ultimate self-care. So grab a cup of tea (or wine, let’s be real) and settle in for some serious pampering.
The Perfect Setting
Creating the perfect environment is crucial for your day of indulgence. Here are some tips:
- Clean! Clear away any clutter or messes.
- Lighting String up fairy lights if overhead lighting is too much. Opt for candles over harsh fluorescents.
- Scent-sational Light your favorite candle or use essential oils like lavender or peppermint to create a calming aroma.
- Cozy Up Fluffy blankets and pillows? Yes please!
- Don’t Disturb Turn off your phone or put it on silent so you’re not interrupted.
Soak Up Some Suds
Taking a bath is perhaps one of life’s simplest pleasures – especially when it comes with lovely smelling suds!
- Fill up the tub with warm water (not too hot!)
- Add Epsom salts, bubble bath,or your favorite bath bomb into the water
- Dim the lights & light candles (Safety first people! No open flames near water!).
- Play relaxing tunes (Something by Enya should hit the spot)
And voila! You’ve created an at-home spa experience worthy of royalty.
Power Off & Unplug
When was the last time you went screen-free?
We dare you switch everything off and unplug from technology including social media notifications gasp. Believe me; it’s quite refreshing being free from those constant reminders buzzing on your phone. You’ll be surprised at just how much time you have to do things you like when social media or TV isn’t stealing all of it.
Fuel Your Body
Self-care doesn’t stop with activities, if anything food takes a center stage.
Why not make yourself an extravagant breakfast complete with avocado toast and turmeric lattes? Or order in your favorite meal from that restaurant you’ve been wanting to try (Treat Yo’ Self!)
Don’t forget water, plenty of it – since self-pampering can be dehydrating even without getting drunk!
Time For A Readership
Curling up with a good book is one the most relaxing ways to escape reality for a while, so why not grab one while indulging?
Grab that book which has been on your reading list forever and get cozy (Throw over some blankets and put on those warm socks). Reading helps reduce stress levels as well; go ahead spoil yourself.
Get Moving (Non-negotiable)
Although rest is necessary take an hour for low-intensity exercise – give your body what it needs!
You don’t need crazy boot camp style workouts here but yoga classes / stretching exercises are perfect – simply sit cross-legged (or whatever position feels comfortable) & stretch out the kinks. Try out Tai-Chi too because it’ll move every inch of the body gently- they say its beneficial to calm nerves & improve memory too(pretty cool)
In Need of sweat?
If want something more energetic then pop in some dance music (yes we mean “crazy-in-the-kitchen” style!) followed by light weightlifting workouts/ Lunges controlled planks (you see Two Birds^ One Stone)Whatever gets your heart rate pumping
Reminder: Exercise releases endorphins which stimulate happier mood-making parts allowing one easily QUIT negativity after burnout moments and come back to your happy spot.
Spoil Your Skin
Self-care is also skin care! Go all in treating yourself gently and look the part:
- Exfoliating? Try microderm abrasions that work well.
- Mud masks deep clean our skin & detoxifying while reducing inflammation!
- Treat-up: If looking for added moisture give a sheet mask a try 🎭
- Facial Rolling— These tools decrease puffiness, increase blood flow aiding lymphatic drainage It feels amazing!
Want something cheaper?
DIY Scrub:
Easy-peasy! Granulated sugar, coconut oil (1/2 cup respectively ) mix up evenly then apply onto wet face using circular movements – Rinse with warm water and you feel like heaven!
Comfortable Clothes Options!
Being comfortable consists of access to loose or stretchy clothes.
Go ahead burn those uncomfortable underwears & opt for looser garments instead (Cool weather = get snug loungewear on)
If heat gets unbearable throw on some high-waisted/gym leggings, sweat pants will do too.If its hot out ladies put on those sundresses; cotton shirts always have ease whether it’s summer or winter.
Throw-on sneakers/yoga sleeper socks (When I say treat yo self people…) comfy slip-ons go with every occasion these days so if easy comfort is available why not?
So there you have it. Our guide to the ultimate self-care day should transform you from bleh into Zen mode (we hope!) Enjoy your day completely without fear of judgment(because everyone needs time off once in awhile)
Don’t be afraid to try new things – anything that creates calm within yourself is more than allowed when aiming towards satisfaction.
