What Causes Markers To Dry Out?

Before finding solutions for reviving dry markers, don’t you think it’s essential to learn why they run out so quickly? Well, several reasons may lead to drying up of our prized possession -the marker.

  • Air Exposure: Exposing our marker for an extended period can cause evaporation resulting in drying up.
  • Overuse: Sometimes giving too much pressure while using the marker results in its quick draining.
  • Leaking Caps: Not closing the cap correctly leads to air exposure again causing them drying up faster than expected.
  • Incorrect Storage Conditions: Storing them in heat areas above 100 degrees can cause premature aging leading towards quicker-drying issues

Quick Fixes For Dried-out Markers

Here come some magical tricks which will have the similar effect on humidity like Harry Potter had with his wand! Try any or all of these methods depending upon what works best for individual preferences:

Alcohol-Water Mixture Revival Method

The alcohol-water mixture is one of my personal favorite methods since both these elements are readily available in almost everybody’s household.

Things You’ll Need

  • A bowl
  • Rubbing alcohol/Isopropyl Alcohol
  • Water

Procedure

  1. Mix one part of alcohol to two parts water in a bowl.
  2. Take your dried-out marker and put the nib in the mixture for five minutes.
  3. Remove it from the solution and mark on paper.

Voila! That should do the trick, but if you don’t have rubbing alcohol at home or want to try different methods, we have some other ways listed below.

The Water Revival Method

Another easy method that’s sure to work wonders is using water. So grab your dead markers, and let’s give them new life with just a drop of H20!

Things You’ll Need

  • A container filled with room temperature water
  • Your Markers

Procedure

  1. First, fill up your container with an inch or so of warmish water.
  2. Now take that dry marker of yours and slice down into its middle lightly vertically while keeping it submerged for 15 seconds.
  3. Wipe off any excess liquid from outside before re-capping & voila! Your old pen would be ready!
This method doesn’t always provide permanent revival; however, It will last long enough for you to complete some essential tasks.

The Blow-drying Technique

This technique involves heat (not like Netflix series) instead of various chemicals used earlier;

Things You’ll Need

-A blow dryer
-Dried Out Marker

Procedure

  1. Firstly plug-in your blow dryer (obviously who runs on charged things?)
2.Now hold it six inches away , slowly applying gentle air pressure all around over each pen for several minutes continuously.(be careful not too close that may cause damage as well)
3.Wipe off those pens’ tips after finishing they’re drying out under minimal heating airflow.

Ta daa! Works excellent with quicker responses than expected.(Don’t you suppose every gimmick was proven ineffective? 😉 )

Now we’ve learned some quick fixes let’s move towards some optional tips for increasing the longevity of our beloved markers!

All About Markers & Their Longevity

Markers not only brighten our creativity and ideas but also require maintenance like any other equipment. Learn these tricks – if you haven’t already- to get the best value from your sticky situation:

Store Your Marker Correctly

Proper storage conditions are crucial in keeping your pens usable, especially with an extended lifespan (like a boss ). Consider placing them flat or nib side up (As it avoids spillage due to gravity) in a well-ventilated place out of sunlight.

Clean Them Regularly /Replace Worn Out Tips

Remember how teachers told us to keep desks clean efficiently? Keep that same energy for maintaining marker hygiene too! Over time oily sediment may stick around pen nibs making ink hardening faster than usual; use a cloth or paper towel toned with rubbing alcohol once/twice weekly on each marker’s cap and neck.

Replacing worn-out markers’ tips acts as an alternative solution extending their optimal lifetime period, commonly found at art-supplies stores or online shopping websites.

Conclusion

We hope this article helped enhance your experience about dry markers! From water method using nearby bucket taps , freezer tip, nail polish remover trick discussed somewhere else across google search pages, we covered every hacking glitch over there(Though they don’t yield solid results). So Fix them all now & let those creative juices flowww just like pumpkin juice did Harry Potter!\

Don’t limit yourself before experiments until next time..happy marking!Bingoo!
