One Thing I Don’t Know Why: Puzzling Thoughts Explained

Do you ever find yourself pondering about things that make no sense and leave you scratching your head? Believe it or not, we all have moments when we can’t seem to wrap our heads around “why” something is the way it is.

Well buckle up because today, I’m going to explore some of these puzzling thoughts with you! By the end of this article, you’ll be able to say aha! to at least one thing that has been baffling for so long.

What was Yoda’s species?

Let’s start off strong. In a galaxy far far away, there was once an iconic character known as Yoda from Star Wars fame. But here’s the catch — nobody knows what species he belongs to.

Shocking, right? With his pointy ears, green skin and distinctive speaking pattern, people often wonder if Yoda was part-human or entirely extraterrestrial. However (and brace yourself for disappointment) George Lucas purposely kept Yoda’s species a secret through multiple movies despite fan demand for answers.

It isn’t fair!

Figures…we are left hanging on such an important matter while Jar-Jar Binks gets ample screen time with his annoying gibberish-talks… Cruelty in its purest form!

How do Cows sleep?

We all know cows; those adorable creatures on farms who entertain us with their moo-ing every morning. Oh but wait till night falls – how do they sleep since they don’t get into any bed like humans or even dogs which curl-up tight on their soft mats & carpets? Well folks.. There’s nothing too complicated about it actually.

Cows snooze standing up! Yep – weird but true- they spend almost 4 hours grazing during day time leisurely and go through roughly six periods of deep REM slumber. Their legs lock into position, and they lean headfirst onto their sides while still remaining on their feet! I can’t even fathom lying down for six minutes while standing straight up,forget about 6 hours!

Why do things taste the way they do?

We all have our favorite dishes we crave — some sweet, some sour and others spicy. But have you ever wondered why certain foods taste the way they do? The flavors are unique to itself but what causes it’s chemical reaction?

To simplify this chemistry for us dummies; flavor is a combination of smell, taste and appearance. Our tongues help us identify five basic tastes- salty, sourness (acidic), bitterness, sweetness & Umami(a savory depth that like soy sauce or fish sauce) & signal receptors in our mouth which send message to our brain telling it what’s up, so to speak.

But good doesn’t always means healthy such as eating pepperoni pizza every day of your life would hardly count as a balanced diet; Same with consuming copious amounts of sugar but hey – if you’re healthy already then go ahead chew away!

Who named Uranus?

If there was a prize awarded at naming planets conventions… Whoever named planet Uranus has definitely earned themselves bragging rights. Naming comedy aside – how much thought went into choosing “Uranus” for one among eight main celestial bodies aka ‘planets’ ?

Well guess what guys.. Everyone around had proposals originating from Greek mythology including Cyclops, Titans etc…..wait isn’t saturn also closely related here? Just thank god that in the end , William Herschel coined suggestion landed with literally out-of-the-world name : Uranus

So did he just make it up?

Actually nope – We might see uranus’ weird name coming under his discovery year i.e.,1781 honoring George III,his patron(early 1790s was time period when planet name Uranus came into use). So yes, Uranus is named after a monarchy-friendly planet-discoverer who happened to be obsessed with the night sky!

Why do we say “Bless you” when someone sneezes?

Sneezing has its own set of mysteries attached to it. Like why does this common bodily function cause so much awkwardness? And what’s up with folks feeling the need to bless others as soon they let out an “Achoo”? I myself often think that God wouldn’t really keep score of how many times one uttered “God bless-You” in their entire lifetime and if so then people would prioritize other important deeds while living on Earth right?

Turns out though that History has got everything covered here— Back in Middle Ages, there was once widespread belief Black Death could whip-off unsuspecting individuals by entering causes through nostrils(sounds ridiculous?). Studies show thus humans were scared enough not just for themselves but about welfare around them too – leading them actually saying ‘god-bless’ someone who released/inadvertently summoned plague-causing germs into air…… So not entirely frivolous! Or a case of good ol’ superstition.

But hey does anyone care or even remember the reason behind such customs nowadays?? Oh Well! We’ll just continue blessing everyone anyways。

What makes us yawn?

Yawning – The contagious sleep-inducing act which spreads faster than wildfire in our workplace meeting rooms();one person rips off a big yawn & before you know it, nearly everyone is opening up wide their mouth…. but why does it happen man?

We used to associate yawning only with low oxygen levels or sleepiness, not anymore however. Many studies have shown that yawning can be provoked by social factors such as seeing others doing same thing!such reflex actions happens more among socially bonded animals fostering empathy With humans, an unconscious empathetic phenomenon enables yawning among friends/family/close associates.

Also, scientists believe that the same region of our brain – hypothalamus- which sets sleep cycles in motion & controls hunger regulates yawning too! …. As if we didn’t have enough bodily mysteries to ponder over already。

Conclusion

Despite having a better grip on some puzzling topics by now, it turns out we still have lots and lots of mind-boggling questions left unanswered. No doubt more than handful unsolved curiosities will always bewilder us but for today at least, let’s all take comfort knowing there are other people out there equally perplexed!

Until next time… Safe pondering!
