My daughter’s hair is dry and brittle?

When it comes to hair, our daughters hold a special place in our hearts. We want their manes to be as healthy and shiny as possible. But what happens when your daughter’s hair is more straw-like than luscious locks? Fear not, dear reader, for I have been there, and I am here to share my hilarious journey towards healthier tresses.

The Struggle is Real

First of all, let me just say that having a daughter with dry and brittle hair can feel like a never-ending battle. You’ve tried every product on the market promising hydration and repair, yet her strands still resemble old hay bales.

But before we dive into my own personal experiences (which are downright crazy), let’s take a moment to understand why exactly this may be happening.

Understanding the Root Cause(s)

There could be several factors contributing to your daughter’s dry and brittle hair:

  • Genetics: Perhaps she inherited these traits from one or both sides of the family.
  • Environmental Factors: Exposure to harsh chemicals (e.g., chlorine) or extreme weather conditions (e.g., sun exposure) could contribute.
  • Diet: If her body isn’t getting enough vitamins or nutrients (such as biotin or zinc), it can impact the health of her scalp AND facilitate cravings for junk food – funny how that works out

Of course; hormones also play an important factor but since none us ants understands women’s hormonal changes so deep down only god know whats happening inside them(laughs).

My Own Hilarious Experience

As mentioned earlier my own experience was entirely insane! Being a proud mom of two gorgeous little girls whom we name “Ginger & Mary-Ann” after famous personalities due their skin color during birth which were ginger red for Ginger while Mary Ann was the color of the ocean; I had to manage between their hair routine as well.

However, when Ginger started developing dry and brittle hair despite my best efforts to deep condition it regularly, defeat was staring us in our faces. My husband who often found humor in this situation suggested maybe running around the house with foil on like we do for baking chicken will help (LOL – yeah right!).

Nevertheless, there were a few things that did work:

A Good Trim

As much as we love long hair on our daughters, damaged ends could be causing further breakage up the shaft resulting in weaker strands from root to tip. I know what you’re thinking – but her pixie cut dream is coming true!

Finding The Right Products

After testing countless products hoping something would just miraculously resolve everything overnight like Harry Potter’s wand – alas It always ended up being the SAME results no matter how many different shampoos and conditioners touting ‘moisturizing’ benefits.

But by focusing less on labels promising miracles and more so on healthy ingredients such as aloe vera or keratin while staying away from harsh detergents proved crucial – also not forgetting UNFILTERED APPLE CIDER VINEGAR RINSE- which trust me works wonders but smelling slight acidic followed by “ewwwwww mommy what have you been drinking” stare of your daughter can be funny sometimes

DIY Treatments

When all else fails cue those viral videos where people scream about breaking lockdown rules, why NOT try some wacky home remedies? Mayonnaise masks anyone?

Okay okay hear me out these are cute alternatives giggles.

Hair masks fashioned from kitchen staples like yogurt or coconut oil made headlines because they have proven beneficial when done properly just take extra precautions keep an eye out for odor since god knows what kind whiffs lemon shower scented mayonnaise jar emits which only sounds delicious.

Keeping it Social

Perhaps the best way to handle dry and brittle hair is to have a sense of humor about it all. Share your amusing experiments with friends, family or even on social media… OHH HOLD ON! As I’m speaking my daughter just walked into me writing this article and asked if she can go live after putting coconut oil in her hair followed by elastic band forming a messy high bun resulting into “The wrong side of Hepburn”. This might go viral and finally fix what the products couldn’t, lack of comedy.

Wrapping It Up – Fix What You Can Whilst Learning To Love The Rest

In conclusion; we should keep things lighthearted for not taking ourselves too seriously during such hardships helps us sail through them gracefully like how Ginger rocked her newly forged “Wrong-side-of-hepburn” maneuvering it as though inspired by Audrey herself.

In fact, that’s what ends up being the most important lesson in all this – while we strive towards healthier locks for our daughters; We must also learn to appreciate the unique qualities present within them no matter how different they may be because ultimately its their spirit which makes them beautiful—hair or no hair.
