Is neutrogena products organic?

Are you like me, and enjoy splurging on fancy branded skincare products? Can you even spell out the name of some of those ingredients used in the products? Well, I certainly cannot. But what we all know now is that organic skincare industry has been taking over for a while now. We are all guilty of wanting to switch to organic skin care products because something about putting fresh fruits and vegetables on your face just reassures us impulsively.

But wait! Hold up there before you go ahead purchasing any random brand claiming to be ‘organic’. Today, I am here to reveal the truth behind all those big words plastered across pretty packaging that claims their product will turn us into an ageless vampire or spell your ex back into your life.

Let’s talk about one of these infamous brands – Neutrogena – Are they fully organic?

Introducing: The Deception

Do not be fooled by advertisement banners screaming “Organic,” “Natural” or even ingredients labeling such as ‘strawberries with mango’ cute as it sounds accepting blindly can cause lots of harm down the line. Before choosing any product labeled natural or organic, best make sure scrutinize every inch listed under their ingredient list.

Before going further let us have a quick reality check : Not everything which promises heaven fulfills what it says ! same goes for labelling terminology i.e Natural and Organic…

What does it mean when skinkare is labelled Natural & Organic ?

Let’s start by breaking down these two terms one-by-one:

NATURAL (or so they say)

Products that claim natural contain at least 70% naturally occurring (includes water) substances- seriously could this definition get any more vague?

The additional %20 percent may consist of synthetically derived compounds but still fall under our trustworthy nature category among other cosmetic labelling words like Non-Toxic, Paraben-Free, and Fragrance-Free. So what exactly does “naturally occurring” mean? Natural ingredients categorize ‘if they’re obtained from animal, mineral or plant sources.'”

First of all – this terminology doesn’t guarantee a perfectly organic product. Secondly – it is not well defined enough so yes you may continue pedaling your papaya cream even though the only natural ingredient in there was water.

ORGANIC (yay?)

More concrete than natural labeling! That’s good news right?
Well…Organic requires that at least 95% of ingredients used be certified to have been grown without synthetic chemicals like pesticides/herbicides/insecticides/animal-by-products / chemical fertilizers for at least three years preceding harvest. The remaining 5% on their list can contain synthetically created substances after petitioning an organization under legal validation confirming true reason behind inclusion of non-organic products

Testing Neutrogena Claims

Think again if one thinks simply by seeing green packaging with bold letter proclaiming “Natural,” soft Green Leaves being added into their newest collection and call outs claiming to here trust to eco-friendly means guarantees complete authenticity.

Now let us examine claims made by Neutrogena and how much accurate these claims are:

Wait wait hold up ! Nourishes Antioxidant Rich?
Do we really think artificial formulas would actually have such effects?

HOLD THAT THOUGHT AS WE GO IN DETAIL TOWARDS THE REAL DERANGED TRUTH…

The Shocking Truth about Neutrogena

After reviewing the highly boastful product claims and marketing propaganda, it’s time to face the hard truth.

Chemicals That Suck (and also in Neutrogena Skincare)

I mean seriously does this stuff have toxic waste injected into these bottles?

According to neutorogena product list – they use numbers and chemical names instead of regular ingredient titles; that alone should be a red flag

Let me break down some of their top popular products:

1. Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash:

One thing we all know well – Pimples! We can count on one hand how many brands aren’t found under our mom or aunt’s bathroom counter whenever acne strikes!

But wait wait..did anyone thought twice what even is going inside? here are some big words in dire need to Google Translate :

  • Salicylic Acid : used as an exfoliant having proven irritant properties for sensitive skin types.
  • Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate: is known to cause harm if swallowed, absorbed through skin contact or by inhalation specifically designated “of concern” in Canada(1)

…these chemicals feel like the type you’d find deep down metallic acid substance from fictional worlds.

  1. Hydro Boost Gel-Creme with Hyaluronic Acid

Every social media account influenced us at some point –
Imagery shooting water droplets onto peachy cheeks then selfies tagged #hydrationgoals !

However did you see crucial detail beyond that pitstop Instagram approval?
Below are listed ingredients used:

Well…This retails more than $23 brags itself as hydrating yet only contains dimethicone which has many controversial claims of drying out one’s skin.

So in conclusion depending on cost and source – Neutrogena Is Not Even Close to Completely Natural based on aforementioned facts!

What Should you be buying Instead?

Recognizing buzzword terms are thinnest when it comes down entire ingredient list (appreciating cleaner skincare beauty standards placed these days) paying attention to products with short, sweet compositions promising genuine natural/organic sources should be our priority.

Alternatives include brands especially known for their love towards organic cosmetics such as:

  1. Honest Beauty
  2. Drunk Elephant range
  3. Origins line

These are just a few among many who formulate their products made up purely from plants or essential oils, minerals , vitamins all good enough for human nourishments instead of ‘scientific inventions’

It is time we invest in our bodies first than ticking off some product goals before ending this year! At least knowing that investing in genuinely natural/organic formulas could save us not only troubles resulting later but also the environment which matters most!
