Are Concerta and Ritalin the same thing? Concerta is methylphenidate, the same thing as Ritalin, except in a long-lasting 12hr capsule. Methylphenidate is a mild stimulant, stronger than caffeine but not so strong as amphetemines.

What is better Ritalin or Concerta? Concerta has a long, steady release pattern, while the short-acting Ritalin releases more quickly and the level drops between doses. This creates more hills and valleys in your blood level. Some people do better with the long release of Concerta while others may need the quicker action of Ritalin.

Does Adderall and Concerta have the same effect? Concerta is a stimulant that acts in a similar manner, but the effect is milder than that of amphetamines. Both Adderall and Concerta (which has the same active ingredient as Ritalin) have abuse potential, but only Adderall is physically addictive.
