How u get lice?

Let’s be real, nobody wants to talk about getting lice. But the truth is, these little buggers are more common than you might think. So how do you end up with these itchy nuisances? Well, grab a cup of tea and let’s dive into the world of head lice.

The basics

Before we go any further, let’s make sure we’re all on the same page here. Lice are tiny insects that live on your scalp and feed off your blood. They can’t jump or fly but they can crawl from one person to another when their hair touches directly (eww).

What do they look like?

You may have heard that lice are teeny-tiny but don’t underestimate them because they pack a punch for what they lack in size! They’re typically around 2-3 millimeters long so that gives them ample space to hatch baby eggs called “nits” (more on those later)

Why do they itch?

When lice feed off human blood which contains some anticoagulants then this will cause an allergic reaction to happen & thus led to itching.

Where did I get these bugs?!

We know you might feel personally victimized by these little guys showing up un-invited onto your scalp because honestly who wants unexpected visitors anyway! Here are some ways people usually pick up headlice:

  1. You came in close contact with someone who has lice: Whether its putting hats together at school or brining heads together while taking selfies – this kind of direct contact only needs several seconds for transmission between two people.
Note: LICE DO NOT CARE ABOUT CLASS – YES THEY LIKE RICH PEOPLE HAIR TOO!

  2. Bedding exchange – borrowing pillow or using bed sheet/towel etc after infested persons increases chances

  3. Hair Accessories Sharing/clothers sharing – these little critters can surely stay on hats or coats even after being washed therefore it helps them travel to the next home

  4. Going through a bad hair salon experience – yes you’ll be paying for more than what’s expected if that particular salon doesn’t follow professional hygiene rules!

You might think of lice as dirty little pests, but they’re not picky about who they infest. So don’t feel embarrassed if you get them (no judgement here!!).

What now?

Say hello to 8+ days of deep cleaning and daily hair checks just to make sure there’s no sign of those nasty bugs in sight! Here are some ways you can (hopefully) avoid getting lice again:

Don’t share your stuff – AT ALL!!

Avoid sharing combs, brushes, bobby pins or any other accessory possible because clearly one human head’s connection with this luxurious lifestyle will put all others in shock & horror 😳

Keep your distance

As much fun as cuddling sessions sound during cold weather within classrooms/ gathering areas at public places– We encourage limiting physical contact; perhaps an elbow bump or foot-tapping would work better for reducing transmission risk? Who knows?!

3rd time is definitely not a charm when dealing with LICE…

If someone already had headlice- consider using clean bedsheet/towels/caps once they’ve visited same place/house over & over again just in case- we appreciate [re]counting though 🤔

Check yo-self before…you know the rest 😉

This should become part of daily routine especially around children – unfortunately – that’s how frequent households affected by this could be nowadays so take due care both professionally inside schools and personally at homes.

Lice may seem like a nuisance (ok let’s face it THEY ARE!) But remember: you are NOT dirty for having them! They’re simply hitchhikers on your hair. So keep calm and de lice (sorry not sorry, had to make a joke!).
