How to treat a swollen foot after injury?

So, you have injured your foot and it’s swollen like a water balloon. Now what? Don’t worry. I’m no doctor but I got you covered with some tips on how to treat your swollen foot just like Dr. McStuffins would!

Initial Steps

  1. Sit down – You don’t want to make it worse by putting too much weight on the injured area.
  2. Elevate the affected limb– Prop up your leg above heart level, this will help reduce swelling (psst.. gravity works).
  3. Don’t cry (yet)– Take deep breaths, crying won’t do anything but add more tears!

Medication

  1. Pain relievers – Acetaminophen or ibuprofen can help ease pain and inflammation , although if in doubt check with a professional.

Ice Ice Baby!

  1. Ice Pack Therapy – Apply an ice pack or frozen gel pack over the affected area for approximately 15 minutes every hour. A bag of peas doesn’t work as well; besides who wants mashed peas anyways?

Protect It from Everything and Anything

  1. Bandage that up: Wrap a compression bandage around your injury carefully; not so tight that you lose circulation but tight enough to keep things stable.
  2. Proper footwear: Avoid wearing flip flops as they are unstable and provide little support . Instead, opt for closed-toe shoes which provide support while walking— Sneakers always do the trick
  3. No Twerking Allowed : Limit movement of the injured area by using crutches or something sturdy before going all out at that ‘Salute Your Shorts” re-enactment party!

What about Heat Treatment?

9.Not So Much: While heat therapy seems enticing because everybody loves FOMO, it’s best to avoid it in the initial stages of injury. Heat therapy is more appropriate after a couple of days since it speeds up circulation, which will encourage swelling.

Moist Your Feet

  1. Soak in Warm Water – Warm water can help reduce inflammation and bring pain relief . Add some Epsom salt if you’re feeling fancy but no rose petals please!

Say No To These Naughty Things

  1. Stay outta that bar: Drinking alcohol can slow down the recovery process and may also interfere with medication.
12.Heel-toe dance? Mmm Nah: Avoid putting pressure on the affected area by walking or standing for long periods until your considerable swing dancer friend’s wedding
13.Um…how else should we put this…no funny business: Sexual activity may lead to undue exertion interfering with effective recuperation.

When Should You See A Doctor?

  1. Schedule an appointment : If symptoms persist even after self treatment,I guess Dr.House would be a better fit to examine your foot haha jk ;consulting doctor might just take care of any persistent swelling!
15.Nope, not now too!: Contact emergency services immediately if you experience sharp pains throughout other body parts or struggle breathing as soon as possible
    .
16.Wait for clarity- Post-injury acute trauma often come cognitive impairment so give yourself time before making decisions requiring optimal mental acuity

Finally,
Take careof place injuries.Swollen feet could happen occasionally, but taking preventive measures such as wearing proper footwear, using safety equipment during workouts could significantly decrease their frequency. That’s all folks!

Have happy healing without ‘fingers crossed’ moments!.
