How to relieve ear pressure from flying?
Flying can be both an exciting and nerve-wracking experience, especially if you’re susceptible to ear pressure. Whether it’s the change in altitude or cabin pressure during takeoff and landing, earaches and stuffy ears are a common side effect. As a frequent flyer myself, I’ve tested out various methods to help keep my eardrums happy. Here are some tips on how to relieve ear pressure from flying:
Don’t sleep during takeoff and landing
It might be tempting to snooze off right as the plane is taking off or landing but avoid that impulse! Swallowing helps adjust your middle-ear space which ultimately helps equalize the ears. Unfortunately, when asleep we swallow less which causes more build-up of air pressure resulting in plugged up ears (not ideal).
Use specialized earplugs
Chew gum while trying to unplug your nose could certainly work, but there’s better options for travelers who want something targeted specifically towards fighting against “airplane pain.” Earplanes would be perfect for instance! They consist of tiny venting channels that regulate air flow difference between inner & outer parts of one’s eardrum helping relieve negative air pressure build-up.
Wear noise-canceling headphones
They’re useful not just because these headphones will mute any lengthy conversations with seatmates next door likely grappling over elbow space – they can also serve as useful tools when dealing with airplane induced hearing issues (or other ambient sounds) by masking them out! Noise cancelling technology will reduce annoying buzzing according background sounds drastically making it way easier focus travelling better !
Try using essential oils…
Not everyone may have heard this tidbit before: Essential oils assist in keeping us healthy while airborne!
