How to put salicylic acid on warts?

You have a wart, and it’s not the cute kind that you can make wishes on. Don’t worry, we’ve got your back (or foot, or finger). In this guide, we’ll teach you how to put salicylic acid on warts so they disappear faster than a magician in Vegas.

What Is Salicylic Acid?

Salicylic acid is like Tinder for warts – it makes them swipe right on death. It’s a type of beta-hydroxy acid that exfoliates dead skin cells and controls sebum production. When applied topically to warts, it dissolves the keratin protein that forms their hard surface.

Where Can You Find Salicylic Acid?

Salicylic acid is available over-the-counter in various forms such as gels, liquids, pads and plasters. In most cases it has concentration level around 17% which seems sufficient.

Here are some common places where you can purchase salicylic products:

  • Drugstores
  • Online retailers such as Amazon
  • Pharmacies

We recommend using brands that are specifically designed for treating warts by including ingredients like lactic acid and urea (which make your skin more receptive to salicinic’s power).

Preparing Your Skin To Be Treated With Salicycic Acid

Before applying any product onto the affected area please follow these steps:

1) Cleanse the area with mild soap,
2) Rub gently with acetic solution,n.b.: acetic solutions manufacturers state NOT use on further recommended usage directly near sensitive areas, now you might think “wait…acetic? Like vinegar?” Well just hold up there buckaroo! Acetic means an acidic liquid containing stuff.
3) Rinse the sap with water very thoroughly.

It may seem simple but this gets rid of dirt, oils, and dead skin cells that could interfere with the treatment.

Applying Salicycic Acid

Once your skin is clean, dry it completely. Then apply salicylic acid using these steps:

n.b.: please read instructions on product label for any different usage of salicylic products than the method described here

1) Dip a cotton swab in salicylic liquid or gel.
2) Apply a thin layer of the solution directly to the wart avoiding contact with healthy skin around area; repeated contacts may result in irritation or adverse effects further on along the way
3) Cover smaller warts (and surrounding skin) with an adhesive pad/ plaster. Ensure that there are no gaps between the adhesive and your skin as this might cause removal difficulties later down along!
4) Now if you’re like me, you’d want to consider having protective gloves when applying… because handshakes are still prohibited lately because it’s 2022 “grazzle-dazzle pandemic”

Please read instructions from manufacturer before proceeding

After Application

So now that we’ve got our treatment on – what happens next?

Well don’t expect immediate results….it ain’t instant gratification world! Patience young Grasshopper, it takes some time for magic potions to work their voodoo!

  • In a week or two after application make sure to peel off any peeling dead skins,
  • Wash affected areas very gently ,
  • File with non electric mechanical file off hardened wart tissue (use pumice stone occasionally),
  • Repeat Steps 1 – 4 (I mean c’mon people follow directions) until warts disappear ?.

Remember,

Be patient with basic precautions.you will hear us say throughout this article ”slow and steady wins….”

If there are larger amounts of plantar warts/severe ones please consult dermatologist since practioners can apply cryotherapy and physical treatment equipment like light treatments.

We hope that you are now armed with confidence to face any wart that might be marching upon your skin territory!
