How to overcome mental anguish?
Are you feeling stressed out, anxious and overwhelmed? Congratulations, welcome to the human experience! We’ve all been there at some point or another. But don’t worry, it’s not all doom and gloom –there are plenty of ways to overcome mental anguish without resorting to turning into a hermit or drinking copious amounts of alcohol. So sit back, relax (unless you’re reading this on your phone while driving) and let me show you how it’s done.
Acknowledge Your Emotions
First things first -let yourself feel what you’re feeling. It can be tempting just todo away with these negative emotions but pretending they don’t exist will only make them grow stronger. Allow yourself time to process any feelings that might be causing anxiety, depression or stress.
Cry if You Need To
Now hold on a second before dismissing this idea altogether; crying shouldn’t just be reserved for extreme cases like losing a loved one or watching “The Notebook.” Sometimes an ugly cry is exactly what we need when going through tough times.
Talk It Out
Find someone who won’t judge you for venting (a therapist perhaps?). Even talking about silly stuff can help bring some lightness in times of darkness. Or find someone who loves drama as much as NeNe Leakesand get their opinion cosue honey chances are there’s no situation too small that they wouldn’t love hearing about!
Write it Down
“It helps clear my mind,” said Taylor Swiftto explain why she writes song lyrics so often.Besides impressing people by showing off your hidden poetic skills, writing down your thoughts is an excellent way to release pent-up emotions that have been bottling up inside.Instead of letting those feelings fester separately, you’ve released everything on paper where everything has come together nicely in order of importance and the biggest problem you had today is deciding between whether to get decaf or regular.
Give Yourself a Break
It’s time to show yourself some love and understanding. Try not to beat yourself up over setbacks or mistakes. Allow your mind and body to rest, recover, and recharge. Take a nap (not during work hours for Pete’s sake), take the day off, basically just do anything that allows breathing space in order to clear your head!
Have A Laugh
There’s nothing like good old-fashioned humor thingamajig tome help ease any anxieties or worries running through our heads. Laughter is good for boosting endorphins which =good vibes.Get started by serving those oneliners at staff meetings, lunch breakswith coworkers, your financial consultant whatever! Even if you’re not particularly funny there are plenty of comedic gold mines all around us like cat videos…or baby goats jumping around.
Disconnect from Social Media
Don’t even try denying it: spending too much time scrolling through Instagram isn’t going to make anyone feel better about themselves.. Social media has been suggested as one of many factors causing anxiety with comparisons left right center so why not disconnect? Turn off notifications/limit phone usage (instead turn on an episode of Netflix series)because although scrolling may initially be therapeutic (we might say however temporary!)eventually it will only cause more anxiety than before
Meditate
Not everyone likes meditating half-heartedly chanting “om,” but give it a chance –you might surprise yourself. You don’t need some cute leggings/or trendy water bottle(some encouragement from celebrities would goa long way yet we can manage without). Simply sit quietly somewhere calm/give gratitude, breathe deeply/visualize positive outcomes.Mediation helps regain focus/calm troubled minds which should benefit greatly when striving towards overcoming mental anguish.
Get Moving
Exercise has the ability to releasehappy hormones such as dopamine and serotonin which havebeen proven to satisfy patient’s brain receptors similar to getting high. What’s not to love? It doesn’t mean you need hit a new personal record at the gym, just make sure that regularly being active is part of your schedule! With so many places open or providing apps/programs, there is something for every person whether it be Pilates/biking (Jillian Michaels Cardio kickboxing, sorry wherever in NJ..jersey brings out the worst)maybe even Yoga to help concentrate on breathing/slow down our racing minds.
Try Out Fun Physical Activities
If going straight into cardio seems too boring why not experiment with other modes of exercise too ramp up endorphins while having fun such as rock climbing/Dance classes can activate sharp reflexes allowing any individual creativity out. Taking up paddle boarding ($10/hr rental for stand-up paddleboard /8am-11pm everyday –okay we’re done now, lol) or sky kicking boxing(think tae bo but involve more kicks!)can add some luxury lifestyle adjustments
Nature Walks
Fresh air whilst stretching those legs and soaking in nature.has got dowondersespecially when feeling suffocated by city life.Head over(during daylight hours obviously)to local parks/recreational areas/hikes connecting with surroundings making yourself feel grateful/simple creature comforts , thus effectively battling mental anguish!
Conclusion
There are countless ways that people deal with stress, anxiety, depression and negative emotions.A variety of exercises from physical activities like yoga/paddle boarding opportunities/changing diets to different eating habits.Funny enough sometimes even superficial means like watching cat videos lessening an amount in frown lines.Although taking care of ourselves should never only serve as a band aid solution.Sometimes self-inflicting therapy may become necessary ensuring we don’t shut away painful situations. To overcome mental anguish takes time,patience,self-love finding healthy alternatives That being said let’s continue working on our mental health and embracing this mortal coil;hopefully more drinks to follow (my throat’s parched).
