How to make your tongue pop?

Are you envious of people who can click their tongues like a boss? Have you ever tried but failed miserably, leaving everyone looking at you with pity or even disgust thinking, “What is wrong with that person?” Fear not, dear reader! By the time I’m done with this article, your tongue will be clicking away like it’s been doing it its whole life. So let’s dive in and start poppin’!

Understanding What You Are Up Against

Before we get into the nitty-gritty of how to actually make your tongue pop, it’s important to understand what makes a successful “pop.” When your tongue clicks against the roof of your mouth or snaps against your palate and teeth, air gets trapped in between causing a popping sound which should resemble bubble wrap being popped (pretty neat huh?).

Now some people might tell you that if you can’t do it right off the bat then maybe you’re just not made for it. Not true! Anyone can become a master clicker. All that’s necessary is patience and practice – both of which supply steady payoffs here!

Getting Started: The Proper Tongue Placement

Okay so now we know that having our tongue snap on either surface creates an air pocket resulting in satisfying pops; hence proper placement is key. Firstly consider trying different positions—you don’t have just one—it also depends on whether front top/back bottom/ vice versa work best for ya (just give them all a try).

The Snap

Try making quick snapping movements as many times as possible (think rapidfire) without any actual sound coming out at first—this helps determine if there are obstructions/poor placement happening preventing popping sounds from occurring.

Place That Tongue Correctly

  • Press down on each side of the tongue with hard pressure against the upper molars (you might feel like you’re drooling at first, that’s a good sign).
  • Bring your tongue slightly back into your mouth away from teeth to create an air pocket.

Practice Makes Perfect: Start Your Regime!

It’s finally time to start some serious training so get ready for this learning curve if clicking has never been a part of your repertoire before (it may seem tedious and frustrating now but all great artists started somewhere!).

The Foundation – Keep it Basic

Starting off, let’s keep things simple by practicing creating mini pops with one side of our tongue only– It will make more sense in just a sec; be patient grasshopper 🙂
– Place tip of tongue behind front upper teeth (against roof)
– Push down hard enough until no sound comes out.
– Slowly remove (only) one side while holding on to opposite molar—this helps maintain proper placement during exercises
– Do same movement mentioned in step two repeatedly

Once you have mastered single-side popping consistently without fail and/or developing facial twitches then move on to bilateral up-down -drumroll please… DOUBLE POPS!!

Move onto the next level–Double Clicks

Now as tempting as it might be, don’t jump ahead without mastering the foundational steps first or ultimately risk failing miserably.. You wouldn’t go straight into a calculus course after elementary math would ya?

To perform double clicks:

1.Place left side of tongue at its designated position
2.Repeat 4th/5th step above(on right side)!

It can take anywhere between weeks or months for beginners depending ,so do not sweat results immediately!

Up Your Game With Triple Clicks (Oh Yeah!)

Triple clicks are essentially joining both sides again and completing third pop, which is probably something most people never even thought to attempt before – yes umm, you ain’t most people. We popping over here fam! These kinds of advancements takes serious dedication and proper conditioning that are both key in churning out top of the line body sounds .

And believe it or not, humans just like bottle-tapping penguins have this ability naturally encoded within their DNA (cha-ching!), so with time and effort, making those coveted pop! sounds will become your second nature!

To perform triple clicks:
• Follow same 4 steps as double pops however now when pressing tongue’s sides down lift middle part then bring back together for third pop

Advanced Techniques– “The Tap Click”

Once you’ve nailed down all the previous exercises mentioned above there is no end point , the next level would be to incorporate advanced clicking techniques that really impress strangers/or significant others (if you’re into that kinda thing—wherever floats your boat): The Tap Click.

This requires quick tapping technique where lower jaw tapped against upper teeth repeatedly (+air pocket) instantly making multiple consecutive popping/clicking noises possible—adding a musical element.

Remember doing anything cool means cultivating natural talent mixed in with determination/ practice.

Other Tips & Tricks . . .

Some other tips/tricks to speed up behavior:

  1. Since clickin’ involves mouth muscle activation make sure you stretch/warmup first(like they do at buffet dinners)!
  2. Consistency is key if failed one day focus on tomorrow
-Even got professional athletes took ‘em years perfect craft.
3.Be consistent every day until comfortable performing many different styles
4.Wrap gauze around finger using non dominant hand apply pressure symmetrically (considered extremely useful among kinesiologists)

Conclusion

As corny as it may sound “If at first try don’t succeed-try again!” This I promise does work even after becoming frustrated during early stages of learning clicking, remembering it’s going to take some time and devotion; never let that discourage you from pursuing. At the end of the day, this is about having fun whilst developing your newfound talent!

So what are you waiting for? Get ready to impress people with this new outrageous sound – Tongue clicks here we come!
