How to lower your body temperature fast?

Summer has arrived and it’s hotter than a jalapeno in the sun. Whether you’re getting too much sun, suffering through an intense workout, or simply just hot as Hades, there are times when we all need help cooling down our core body temperature. But how do you lower your temperature fast? Fear not my heat-stressed friends, because this guide is jam-packed with tips and tricks on how to become one cool (and collected) cucumber.

The Science of Body Temperature

Before we jump into how to lower our body temperature, let’s take a quick peek at what body temperature actually means (science alert). Our bodies function best at around 98.6°F (give or take), but during exercise or in high temperatures, that number can creep up and cause trouble such as dehydration, dizziness, headaches; you get the picture.

But what causes our bodies to overheat? Well first off (drumroll please), your internal organs create heat as they work throughout the day (yawn). Normally this isn’t an issue since sweat helps regulate our internal thermostat by evaporating from tiny pores located throughout our skin and causing us to feel cooler (cue choir of angels).

However in high humidity circumstances this evaporation slows wayyyyyy down meaning less ambient cooling occurs leading to less sweat evaporating so no drop-in-body-but-a-rise-of-temperature-yep-the-worst-case-scenario-kind-of-thing! To add insult-to-(literal)-injury even breathing makes your expel heat via exhaling which sorta feels counterintuitive due tot he fact that exhaling -> reducing amount fluid from inner body = rising temp #bruhtechnicallyyy

Okay done with science lessons now onto good stuff:

Hydration Station

Quick math question: If water makes up a good chunk of our bodies and sweating causes us to lose electrolytes as well as fluids therefore thereby leading into dehydration which is the ultimate cause for feeling ‘hot-n-bothered’ what should be done? Duh! Drink MORE WATER (water dance) .
And not just that iced coffee your holding right now because while caffeine may make you feel more alert it will in fact lead to further dehydration. Sorry not sorry.

Hydration doesn’t have to be boring either, try adding some fruit slices, herbs or even a twist of lime/lemon (yeah we know this sounds like something from gourmet online magazines!) Not only does hydration help decrease body temperature but also helps with headaches and stubborn pimples believe it or not!

Get Shade-y

So I can guess you’re thinking right now- duh captain obvious Nobody wears black when stepping out under sun because heat waves; but hey hear me why should one care about getting shade:

The surface of earth soaks up most energy by absorbing UV rays which then disperse thermal energy around our municipalities during daylight hours leading everything nearby including humans to cook themselves faster than last night’s chicken dinner (#roast). Standing under the shade provides relief from direct sunlight making you less likely to absorb all those harmful UV rays directly

If finding natural shade isn’t possible, create your own. Carry an umbrella or use a temporary structure using materials like bamboo (gasp folks do this too!). For office spaces add shades on windows ,interior window tinting applications/shades work perfect especially if someone’s desk location receies alot more airy vibes

Many communities encourage “cool buildings” programs where local establishments opt for roof gardens green zones meaning whoever visits these spots gets protected areas surrounded by joyous plant-greenery yay! These enclosures are certified bright ideas examples involving combining nature with eco-friendliness; win-win no?

Fashion Forward Thinking

Next time you choose your outfit, think. The choice of clothing can make all the difference when it comes to body temperature so swap out those heavy woolen sweaters and opt for something lighter weight than a set-up from a furnace.

When temperatures really soar, wear loose-fitting lightweight clothes in light colors (enter the famous beige pants brigade /wink) which help reflect sunlight instead of absorbing as dark colours do leading into less feelings of confinement! Oh that reminds me if you’re heading outside go with wearing hats or visors to protect your head and keep sunshine off your face well added bonus: prevents sun damage!

Frozen Treats Will Save Your Life

So ice cream maybe shouldn’t be eaten every day due to health concerns but when battling heat what’s more satisfying than enjoying some frozen treats? Seriously there are SO many mouth watering options other than getting yourself some good old chocolate bars (but hey-no judgement!).Try things like homemade popsicles made by freezing fruit puree, yogurt mixed with different herbs/almonds or grabbing cold milk smoothie using blender. This provides magical relief from sweltering weather-induced frustrations!

Another sneaky tip is throwing fruits in the freezer overnight especially water-rich produce since they will freeze too supplying an immediate burst mix into meals making them tasty and having an instant cooling sensation/station at hand -bonus nutrition points whoop whoop!

Cold Water Immersion

Now we’re talking OMG this sounds crazy but let us explain first :D(queue adventure movie soundtrack). An age-old technique loved by professional athletes; dipping into really cold water might sound insane option unless its blazing hot because not only does it cool down entire body quickly , increases endorphin pumping up feeling energized!

There’s no specific rule on how long one should stay submerged (sorry science didn’t find any!) but usually 2-3 minutes suffice before stepping back onto regular earthly land. If water isn’t easily accessible, place a towel & ice packs on pulse points like forehead ,neck or ankles providing quick pick-me-up.

Conclusion

And with that my overheated friends, we’ve come to the end of our journey together towards happy temperatures.(Aww) There’s no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to cooling off(shrug) but incorporating any number of these tips will have you feeling cooler than a polar bear sitting in an AC theater. Just remember stay hydrated(water water everywhere!), get shady, dress lightly and maybe hit up that swimming pool near your house- just once okay? Cheers to being cool – both physically and metaphorically!
