How to get over being nervous around a guy?

We’ve all been there – you’re talking to a guy you really like, and suddenly your hands start shaking, your heart is beating faster than ever before, and you can’t seem to form normal sentences. It’s an awkward feeling that no one wants to experience more than once. But don’t worry, we’ve got your back with some funny tips on how to get over being nervous around a guy.

Figure Out Why You’re Nervous

First things first, let’s try and figure out why exactly you’re so nervous in front of this guy. Is it because he’s too good-looking? Does he make you feel intimidated? Are you afraid of embarrassing yourself? Once you identify the reason behind the nerves, it will be easier for us to tackle them.

Be Confident In Yourself

The key here is confidence. Not only does confidence make YOU feel better about yourself but it also exudes a certain vibe that others will detect – even our Mr.Tall-Dark-and-Handsome crush would pick up on that! So naturally, if it’s not something which comes naturally 1-2-3 for ya’ then fake till ya’ make situation until this becomes second nature!

Breathe Deeply

Take deep breaths; inhale… exhale… in with new positive energy out with old negative anxieties woosahhh or ‘ommm’, whatever meditation technique works best for ya’.

Find Common Ground

Maybe you don’t have the same music taste but both enjoy green tea frappes’ over lattes? Conversations may come naturally with shared interests, life experiences, values or goals. So relax and try to find a common denominator between yourselves.

Do Some Research

Stalking can sometimes be… useful! Instead of being embarrassed about your Googling his Insta profile or casual LinkedIn search why not take it a step further and look at some mutual friends’ posts for topics he likes discussing online. A favorite band in common or recent article-related discussion on climate change is just what we needed to plan our next chat-up session!

Dress Smartly- Comfortably!

Wear something that makes you feel confident and comfortable – whether it’s wearing those new expensive suede boots ya ordered online – all week around the house (or was that just us…)…something affixed with superglue so ya couldn’t take them off because dang they hurt? Try rotating shoes which are cute and comfortable- say sneakers/sneaker wedges/ ballet flats etc; heels when sitting down rather than walking around no heroics here sister

Take Your Time

Don’t rush things, take your time getting to know this guy. By doing so you’re able to learn about him and feel more comfortable in front of him at a pace that’s safe for you!

Engage in Activities Together or Reflect on Shared Memories

Try bonding activities such as video games plus points if it’s the new PS5, building LEGO towers, painting metal figurines with intricate details – yeh we went there; or reflecting on shared memories like those hysterical stories involving being sprung by the teacher during imp-romtu guitar singalongs in 6th-grade homeroom (wow who did that?). Nostalgic reflections are always fun!

Throw Out The Pressure Cooker

There can be immense pressure especially when first meeting someone but don’t let it control how you handle yourself. You deserve happiness just as much as anyone else- including Mr Tall Dark and Handsome too!

Embrace Silly Jokes And Laughter

Humor is attractive honey! Don’t hesitate to throw in that joked you heard or a silly meme that made you laugh. Also, don’t take yourself too seriously – being willing to laugh at your own mistakes is definitely attractive!

Avoid Alcohol If Nervous

It may seem like the best solution but having a few drinks may actually create more problems than not- letting beer goggles kick-in may lead to extreme embarrassment which resultingly spirals into regretful nights and pitiful memories definitely not recommended

Don’t Try To Be Someone Else

It’s easy isn’t it ‘faking it till making it’? Not so fast! Ya can’t always pretend all the time, I mean did ya really love watching cricket as much as he does (cue cricket season chat up lines)? Just stick true with being…you.

Remember Body Language Counts Too!

Remember our J.Lo song “Love Don’t Cost A Thing” lyrics …“Who do ya think ya are if cha come acting like another star…” if body language shows status quo tension showin through rather than relaxed & natural then chances are Mr Tall Dark and Handsome will…not wanna chance bothering awkward

Date Them Like A Friend

It’s not just Teddy Boy, that flew ya to the moon but someone who ya enjoyed spending time with. Approach…carefully and delightfully as treats should be savored gradually rather than binged.

Consider First Impressions

We’re all human too- Mr Tall Dark & Handsome may or may not have an off day which includes a babbling mouth roughly brushing their teeth (+ the brushing of gums sighs), accidentally spitting coffee onto his shirt instead of into the mug (I mean seriously how does one do this?). Anyways while first impressions are important they’re not constantly fully feasible, imo grab a chance in knowing them better before drawing any final conclusions!

While reading up is great! Sometimes it requires more intense digging for lack-of-confidence cases or even ol’ background for an unsuitable Mr.Tall Dark and Handsome. Don’t hesitate in seeking professional advice, plenty of services are available both online or F2F with certified counsellors!
