How to cure my throat infection?

So you’ve woken up with a sore throat? Well, congratulations! You have officially joined the club of millions of people who experience colds and flu every day. Your throat is an important part of your body, connecting your mouth and nose to the lungs, which means it’s susceptible to many infections.

Being sick can be a drag. It takes away from our ability to laugh at jokes we see online (insert hilarious cat video here), eat popcorn while watching movies on Netflix all day make inappropriate noises in public – nobody likes that person. Plus, there’s nothing worse than feeling like someone has taken a sandpaper grit 4000 coated with serrated metal spikes over their hands down your throat.

Don’t worry though; I’ve got some tips for you so that you can cure your throat infection quickly without even leaving home!

Start with Liquids

The very first thing that you should do when suffering from a sore throat is drink lots of fluids. Not just any fluids mind you but warm or hot ones because they will help soothe the inflammation in your vocal cords and relieve irritation.

You could try drinking:

  • Warm water
  • Herbal teas
  • Honey lemon water
  • Chicken soup (how cliché)

These liquids are not only easy on the stomach but also hydrate and energize your body – plus don’t forget about chicken soup’s mystical healing properties.

Gargling Salty Water

Gargling saltwater might sound counter-intuitive but trust me; it works wonders for relieving sore throats. Saltwater gargles are particularly helpful against viruses that cause sore throats as they contain anti-inflammatory properties which reduce swelling and pain.

Here is how I usually prepare my magical potion:

  1. Add half teaspoonfuls of table salt into an eight ounce glass filled with warm water.
  2. Mix thoroughly making sure the salt is completely dissolved in water.
  3. Gargle with it for about thirty seconds, spit and do not swallow.

Bear in mind though, if gargling hurts then dial back your quantity of salt or consider pouring less solution into the mouth at a time to avoid discomfort.

Try alternative remedies

For those who prefer natural remedies, there are plenty of options to alleviate throat infections. Some popular ones include:

  • Aloe vera juice
  • Apple cider vinegar
  • Slippery elm lozenges

Aloe vera has antiviral components that can fight off germs causing sore throats while apple cider vinegar contains acidic properties which kills bacteria and soothes soreness. On the other hand slippery elm lozenges have mucilage that coats throat providing additional protection from irritants.

It’s important however before trying out any of these alternate medicines to consult with medical practitioners first – especially if taking prescription drugs already.

Rest

Resting is critical for recovery when dealing with illnesses because exhaustion partakes on immune systems ability to function at optimal levels thereby reducing healing speed. When feeling unwell just take some rest by going off-screen (if you’re working online), unplugging and letting yourself recover naturally.

Make sure you get enough hours sleep each night too; according to WebMD’s Dr Michael Breus: “Sleep plays a vital role in good health and well-being throughout one’s life”

Steam Showers

One little-known natural cure for throat infections is steam showers. The steam opens up blood vessels which help increase circulation around all parts of the body including inflamed areas such as vocal cords.

Here’s how I go through my simple routine whenever I experience nasopharyngitis:

  1. Turn on hot water shower using high temperature setting,
  2. Stand inside bathroom ensuring doors remain closed so no steam escapes
3.Breathe deeply inhaling steam throught nose into lungs until feeling relief from inflammation symptoms of runny nose or congested chest

You can also add a eucalyptus oil drop to make the most of its anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties helping soothe irritated airways at the same time too!

Avoid Irritants

Last but not least, it’s essential to avoid irritants if you want your sore throat infection recovery process to proceed as quickly as possible.

Here are some common ones you might need to be mindful about:

  • Smoke (cigarettes or otherwise )
  • Dust
  • Polluted Air

Irritants inflame and agitate the vocal cords worsening existing soreness symptoms slowing down healing processes.

Wrapping things up now I hope this list will prove helpful in curing that pesky throat infection what with everything included such gargling saltwater, resting proper fluids like Coca Cola or other herbal teas. Remember though even when treating illnesses don’t forget having fun during recuperation times is just as important!

So sit back relax have yourself a bowl chicken soup hopefully soon enough all pains woes of sickness will subside far behind replaced by warm fuzzy feelings being alive well once again.
