How do you know if your nose is fractured?

Ah, the nose. It’s a handy appendage for smelling things and breathing correctly (both highly underrated activities). But what happens when your schnozz gets smashed up in a tragic accident or a mishap on the dance floor?

You may be left wondering: “Is this thing broken?” Well, dear reader, fret not. Here are some signs to look out for that will let you know whether or not your nose has suffered a break.

The Sniffer Test

The first thing you might notice after injuring your nose is difficulty breathing through one or both nostrils. This could mean there is swelling inside your nasal cavity. To test if something is blocking airflow, try holding each nostril closed with one finger and breathing in through your mouth. If only one side feels blocked (which can happen with swollen turbinates), congratulations! You’ve just identified which half of your face got violently collided into someone else’s.

If no physical blockages are felt and yet you still struggle to breathe normally through either side – it’s time to move onto more pressing matters… like figuring out if that bone protruding from your nose bridge means anything alarming..

Mirrors Are Just Windows Into Truths We Wish They’d Hide

Taking advantage of working reflex eyesight: give yourself/have someone take photos of all angles of the damage and assess further:

  • Is there visible bruising around the base / origin point below your cheekbones located near where pre-Facial Hair humans used superfluous quills called whiskers would be grown… What? You don’t have them anymore?!.. NECKBEARD

  • Does it LOOK crooked off center?

  • Is there any bleeding??? (I hope none but most likely two possible outcomes here)

    A) immediately clean,

    B) hide from anyone that was around to watch it happen

A broken nose usually bleeds more than a non-broken nose. Can’t find your phone or mirror? Try using your camera as a substitute (probably not helpful if on the burrito stand’s security footage). Hold it up and check for swelling, crookedness, etc at several different angles.

Pain Management- Hopefully Not the Table Dancers “Manager”

PAIN & TENDERNESS: As with any injury, there is typically pain involved when your face gets smashed, especially along the bridge. (OUCH!) Touching or pressing on your nose may also be quite tender – this isn’t due to [[the little pink elephant’s exercise workouts…team of lawyers told us to remove subsequent claims]], rather innate physiological reactions to trauma so try not tease anyone who tries grabbing n punches you some extra kicks!

_ If you did get kicked in addition like an ex-con treated by his cellmates: elevate both feet and pin them under their arms while banging each other…oops wrong article

The SNOT Method

Sometimes determining whether or not your olfactory organ got factory hammered can come down to how much mucus you’re producing in the aftermath. A broken nose could cause pus-like fluid drainage and persistent mucous discharge which all collect right behind where glasses/surgical masks rest adding salt glycerin crystals into open wounds.

Continuing:
When discussing this with some particularly smart humans – two major types are documented:

1) MUCUS-CLEAR FLUID: This type of watery nasal discharge often signals irritation caused by allergies, breathing dry indoor air during low humidity days (aka ARID Air conditioning too!). It might normally go away without medical intervention since we have our own air humidifiers-LUNGS but people pay thousands every year for wood chips haha they ridotta dry homes worth every penny according to mall fountains salespeople.. unless your nose breaks that is, in which case the mucus- clear fluid will persist for an abnormal period.

2) WHITE/CLOUDY FLUID: Another sign to look out for post-nasal breakage. The colourless discharge could turn white due to your body trying to contain internal bruising by summoning extra fluids (kinda like a biological scab/mortar). It might appear days after the incident so don’t panic unnecessarily while analyzing all content of Kleenexes you sacrificially offered up as… well…sacrifices?

Petty life-hacks expert tip: Keep drinking water during this time and consume it sip-by-sip instead of glugging down gallons at once; doing so can help flush those pesky allergens or foreign invaders who keep their hovels around moist environments!

Swelling Like A Balloon On Super Bowl Sunday

Swelling becomes visible on impact, but other factors can exacerbate or limit these symptoms such as ice compressions reaching areas outside-the-nose’s demarcated territory:
– FULL FACE – non-uniform swelling affecting “common” surfaces including eyes and cheeks swells too (Goodnight kiss now looking like just joined boxing club).

Tips? Clean makeup & avoid layering creams to draw attention towards skin redness bloating… You are not worthy of being called pizza face.(at least until Halloween Prosthetics become fashionable)

Stuffy sinuses + mostly blocked nasal breathing typically equal limited oxygen availability = more concentrated stress!

Take a load off-rest comfortably with head slightly raised above rest of your torso– seemingly reduces recovery periods up 30%…

Teeth Talked and Nose Listened – Hearing the Break

This one’s interesting…

Some broken noses produce clicking sounds when touched gently. In serious cases, they may also make cracking noises if moved around too much.Better check those ears, mate!

What The Nose Knows – Smelling Problems

Sometimes there’s nothing like a good scent to help us determine what’s going on. Or more precisely – no good scents…

One possible symptom of a broken nose is the loss of your sense of smell or diminished ability to detect odours which could actually bring about trying out exotic cuisine primarily flavoured by smell /aroma; blind folded, as all car sick people surely know.

Tip: If you fear that you may have sustained a nasal fracture, seeking medical attention at earliest opportunity helps in minimizing damage done during Subsequent Super Bowl Sundays and recovery timeframes if caught earlier.

Those were some signs to watch out for if you think someone else broke~~wind~~your nose. Now go forth being vigilant and keep one (or two) nostrils ahead!
