How do you know if you have ear wax?

Imagine this – you wake up and hear nothing.

You rush to get out of bed, wondering why someone would play a prank on you like this. Then, lightning strikes as soon as it hits you that the problem isn’t with your hearing.

No sir!

It’s just that you can’t hear due to “something” in your ears. You start experimenting by poking anything pointed around the entrance of your ear hole, trying to remove the blockage. But then again who doesn’t make bad decisions at least once in their lives? If only there were an agreeable way to find out what exactly is clogging up our ears before we create further problems.

Well lucky for us or perhaps I should say lucky for “you”; today we are going to set sail into the vast and often overlooked world of earwax to help solve all those pesky questions about how much is too much when it comes down building substance inside our ears!

What exactly is Ear Wax anyway?

First things first let’s get one thing straight, whether its called earwax or cerumen (pretty posh sounding), It’s still GROSS!!. All jokes aside though Ear wax actually has an incredibly compelling story behind its formation; In a nut shell (pun intended) Your body produces it naturally through skin secretions and normal hair follicle activity targeted specifically in areas such as — hang onto your hats ladies and gents:
– The External Ear Canal
– Medium Ear
– Inner Ear

Your chin drops right? Whose brain told them these spots were okay?! Naturally now that we know where its formed lets move promptly onto our next question…

Is my There a Standard amount of  Ear Wax?

There isn’t really. You see Sir/Madame (see what I did there) everyone has different ear sizes which means differing amounts of cerumen. Nonetheless, the world must keep moving and so we move onto our next point.

Signs of Ear Wax Buildup

Since everyone’s thresholds differ from individual to individual, it’s often a bit tedious (and risky) just going at your ears with any old instrument which can lead to further pushback of specimens inside your ear canal making things more hampered overall. I know that sounds all too dramatic! So How would you tell? Here are some warning signs:
– Decreased hearing
– An uncomfortable feeling in the ear
– Pain or discomfort
– Plugged sensation in ear
– Tinnitus (ringing noise)

All these things sound incredibly pleasant no doubt but take heart, for most people this gory buildup  is pretty much within regular limits when observed properly as nature does its thing daily and you go about your day without mucous getting poured everywhere (At least we think).

Nevertheless , if any part of one’s bio-sphere reacts differently than usual then that could be an indication that something is off; In this case perhaps there might really be more wax than should normally occur!

The Proper Way To Clean Your Ears?

So let’s say a person feels they might have accumulated too many layers of cerulean deposits (Threw that vocab tidbit randomly) clogging his/her Eustachian tubes – What do they do now?? Like almost everything revolutionary – Leave it alone!

That might sound crazy who leaves weird stuff lingering close to their delicate hearing system? But actually leaving ear wax in place will save one from using harmful substances like cotton swabs or other small pointed instruments – Which Google Docs advises against anyways.

However as tempting as it may be, every Tom Dick n Harry shouldn’t engage their physician straight away on having recurring blocked sensations.Taking care at home requires only clearing out visible areas near entry points (doctors call these auricles) using warm water, possibly medical drops if suggested and just giving it time.Next up we list a few Dos and Don’ts about ear care.

Points to note for Ear Cleaning

  • Only clean exterior areas with gentle warm washcloth
  • Use only ‘recommended’ ear drops to soften wax before cleaning ears
  • Never insert fingers or any pointy object into the inner canal of the ear.

That last one is highly emphasized because rather than snatch out wax deep inside your local ENT will prefer doing that safely without harming you. The flesh in there can be very sensitive so one slip and it’s ouchies all over.We would like to avoid that at all cost.

Moving Forward ; Prevention

It’s commonly agreed on by professionals for persons who seem prone to this recurrence to make regular trips (rather plesant visits) “The Doctor”!!.Medical personnel usually have special instruments which aid them in accurately observing deeper portions of stuff jammed packed within their patients sensitive little hearing holes. So many fancy words right? But truthfully you want more of a good thing concerning your physical health so Why not?

What happens when prevention brings no solace ? Here are some other forms often advised: –
– Syringing; You’d Think maybe Kindergarten days were long gone but this oddly peculiar practice entails flushing salted water through one’s cleaned auricle.

Be prepared however! That lovely “gushing” sound underwater most definitely will occur here. But wait what does happen after?

Residual irrigation liquid mixed with baby archaic cerumen gets trapped behind eardrum requiring skilled probing as Auriol cleaning ultimately remains postponed till further notice!

Also reading WarningSyringing should be done cautiously as failed attempts could lead into even much dire ailments such as tinnitus among others

– Suction Method: Also conducted by professionals yet producing clearer results, an instrument akin to a narrow vacuum is used to suction out internal wax layers.

The obvious choice may be up for debate but the eventual result is always what matters most in terms of being satisfied with one’s hearing.Luckily both these methods are minimally invasive procedures which reduce risks of complications caused entirely from trying other forms of Do-It-yourself approaches.

Wrapping Up

In brief I think we have accomplished quite a lot. We know different types and amounts, how easy it can build up ,where earwax buildup actually occurs also when we should consider visiting specialists or implement proper measures at home.

After reading this hopefully you’re feeling much better about that little lump residing inside your head? Or perhaps just realising there’s more than the fact that they might need cleaning from overexposure! No matter your answer let’s all come together having learned something new today. So go fourth knowing exactly what do when faced with situation like excess cerumen deep within our fuzzy wuzzy inner ears!

And now since our article has ended, let us take joy in sanity inspections occasionally … AFTER AT LEAST using cotton swaps once… 🙂
