How do u know when your going through puberty?

Puberty is a rite of passage that everyone goes through, but sometimes it can be hard to tell if you’re actually going through it or just experiencing some weird changes. However, fear not! In this article, we’ll break down the signs and symptoms of puberty so you can finally understand what’s happening to your body – and maybe even find some humor in the whole ordeal.

The basics: What is puberty anyways?

Before we dive into the gritty details, let’s talk about what exactly puberty entails. During this time period (which usually happens between ages 8-14 for girls and 9-16 for boys), numerous hormonal changes take place which cause physical transformations such as breast development in females or voice deepening in males.

These hormones are produced by your endocrine system (yes, that system) which includes glands like the pituitary gland and hypothalamus. Essentially they send out chemical messengers called “hormones” that signal certain parts of your body to start developing – think hair growth or increased muscle mass.

So how do I know if I’m officially pubescent?

  1. Hair up there

One of the classic signs of entering puberty is beginning to grow hair where there wasn’t any before. This can include armpit hair (yay) for both sexes or facial hair (ehhh…) for males specifically. Don’t worry though – these newfound locks won’t make you instantly cool like Tom Selleck circa 1980s Magnum PI.

  1. Acne Attack

Remember those awkward middle school years when half the kids seemed like walking acne advertisements? Yea well during puberty pimples tend to increase thanks again to all those delightful fluctuating hormones (wink). But hey at least now you’ll have an excuse as to why your forehead looks like a connect-the-dots game.

  1. Monstrous Mood swings

Thanks to all those hormones still, your moods can be akin to a rollercoaster – one moment you’re on top of the world then next you’re Frodo at Mordor. Just try not leave any Samwise Gamgees behind in your wake (use this reference as opportunity to look up some “Lord of The Rings” memes).

  1. Voice like a clown?

For male offspring’s their voice may develop into something much deeper than before resulting in an auditory impersonation of Marlon Brando from (hopefully) his younger years.

  1. Boobs begin budding

For female offspring’s puberty means estrogen production takes off and breast tissue develops. Not necessarily every woman will want larger breasts but hey when they start sprouting people may notice if clothing suits are needed for containment (…or support…yikes got too real that time)

Additional signs and symptoms

There are numerous more physical signals that may crop up during puberty such as growth spurts or body odor (fun times) but perhaps some additional hints indicating its time for new deodorant include:

  • Testosterone indicators : Emerging pubic hair, facial hair (males), underarm hair regardless of gender
  • Oestrogen indicators: Breast tenderness/hard lumps developing
  • Height spurt: Suddenly soaring taller is typical when experiencing growth spurts which usually precede other bodily changes signifying onset of adolescence
  • Hormones gone wild: Emotional shifts including increased emotional feeling making it so crying maybe somewhat more likely

While we hope these details help clarify the situation, there isn’t always a perfect textbook answer – everyone goes through things their own way! But by knowing some prevalent attributes it makes being able to keep pace with understanding changes waaayyyyy easier . Good luck out there kiddo!
