Grown pains: Growing up is hard to do

Growing up can be tough. We start off as innocent little creatures, completely unaware of the world around us. But then we grow older – and things start to get complicated.

Why does growing up have to be so difficult?

In this article, we explore some of the challenges of growing up and offer advice on how to make it a little easier.

Changing bodies, changing minds

One of the biggest changes we go through during adolescence is our physical growth. Our limbs elongate and hair sprouts seemingly from nowhere. Puberty hits us like a tonne of bricks! And that’s not even considering all those raging hormones coursing through our system!

But it’s not just our bodies that are changing; puberty has emotional ramifications too (as if hormones weren’t enough). Adolescents often feel like they’re stuck in limbo between being treated like children yet expected to act more maturely (rude awakening!).

Pressure from peers

As teenagers enter their high school years, one thing becomes increasingly apparent: peer pressure. Whether your classmates are smoking cigarettes or trying marijuana for the first time(don’t do drugs) , nobody wants to feel left out.

This pressure can take many forms – excluding people who don’t conform or ostracizing them by spreading rumours (call it bullying!). The worst part is you often find yourself hoping someone invites you into their group (been there done that!)

It’s easy to say “just ignore them” but actually ignoring taunts lies within mental toughness which can only come with practise – Yep you heard me right practice but learn quickly before scars become permanent!

Figuring out identity

In addition to evolving physically & emotionally teenagers struggle with figuring out an answer for ‘who am i?’ & what place they hold in society.

This identity problem isn’t just limited towards individuals coming from a diverse cultural background (I know what I’m talking about when it comes to this). But rather globally, the sense of belongingness & carving an identity for oneself is a daunting task in itself.

The only remedy i have ever found is that – Be open! Accept yourself with your quirks and try to integrate into new cultures. You might learn something about them and most importantly you will end up discovering some hidden talents too!

Stepping out

As teenagers you are expected to start taking on more responsibilities like choosing careers, meeting deadlines & making commitments etc.

So whenever anyone says ‘grown-up’ world we can say without any doubt —It’s terrifying!!! Making decisions, managing time and being responsible for our actions can all feel overwhelming at times(game over!).

But don’t worry; there’s no need for anxiety as there are myriad opportunities lining up right ahead of you. It’s easy to make mistakes hence take things one step at a time while keeping optimistic approach .

Keeping perspective

In retrospect although growing pains were tough but they added richness to life(intemperate statement?). They gave us the chance not only mature but also taught us how to create relationships other than family and teachers!

Don’t sweat so much over stuff that seems colossal now(as if it’s going affect everthing). Every set back counts as lesson learnt which would eventually affect our lives (it was hard-earned my dear).

Take deep breaths ,believe in yourself(words hold power)…and we will get through these grownup blues together!

Observe Ye Mighty Grown-Ups: Remember This
You survived teenage years. Nothing lasts forever
Trust your instincts(on second thoughts be sure) Action speaks louder than words(Although sometimes just saying sorry should do trick!)

## To sum up

No doubts growing-up is difficult! Hold onto your hat as it gets bumpier and cruise through the roller coaster ride that life gives us.

At times we all want to escape but marking our presence & creating memories is so much better than escaping.

Remember: Enjoy these days even if they don’t happen again – One day looking back you can’t help but laugh at how ridiculous things were! So live, learn be happy!

Cheers to growing up!
