Feelin’ past my prime: I feel old

Ah, the golden years. Retirement, grandchildren, and long walks on the beach with a fake hip. As we age, it’s easy to start feeling as though our best days are behind us- but age is just a number! In this article, we’ll explore some common misconceptions about aging and share some tips for staying young at heart.

Don’t blame it on the alcohol (or lack thereof)

One of the most common complaints among those who feel “past their prime” is that they’re no longer able to party like they used to. Maybe you can’t keep up with your frat brother’s drinking habits anymore (not that you should still be acting like you’re in college), but there’s no reason why you can’t still have fun nights out!

Exercise 101: Why walking to the fridge doesn’t count

We get it – working out isn’t exactly everyone’s idea of a good time. But exercise doesn’t have to mean pumping iron or running five miles every day; even something as simple as taking regular walks around your neighborhood can make a huge difference in how you feel physically and mentally.

Not only does exercise boost endorphins (the same happy chemicals released after eating chocolate or falling in love), but it also helps reduce your risk of chronic conditions such as heart disease and diabetes. Plus, looking bigger than Arnold Schwarzenegger never hurt anyone.

Add Some Spice To Your Workout Routine

Being creative with workouts will help prevent boredom from creeping in . Engaging in adventurous activities/ sports which aligns into your interest keeps workouts lively . You could try hiking , playing soccer etc .

Tip To Remain Motivated When Working Out

Having an accountability partner gives extra push by making sure both parties stay committed on their workout goals . It could even be daily or weekly check-ins between friends/family.

Use it or Lose It: The Importance of Staying Mentally Active, too

It’s not just your physical well-being that can benefit from a little extra effort; mental activity is also crucial. Continuously challenging yourself to learn and grow can help keep your brain healthy and active in much the same way exercise improves our bodies.

In fact, keeping your mind sharp may be even more important than preserving muscle mass – many retirement-age adults find they never give their minds enough stimulation after retiring (cue the endless jigsaw puzzles). So, read a new book or watch foreign movies with subtitles . You could also try learning something outside of what you are used to doing on daily basis i.e programming language , poetry analysis etc

But wait – there’s more!

Of course, these are just a few examples of ways you can stay youthful as you age. Here are some other tips for feeling young at heart (or wherever else):

Don’t Be Afraid To Try Something New

Whether it’s painting lessons or salsa dancing class , having new experiences will make-up for an excellent substitute for those happy college memories .

Keep A Positive Attitude

There are many things we cannot control as we get older but ultimately, we decide how to handle them . Keeping positive attitude will make life journey enjoyable rather than filled with worry about the next ailment/ physical deficiency.

Make Time For Friends And Family

At times getting friends seems complicated when everyone is leading busy lives . However setting up regular meetups keeps loneliness at bay adding more years both physiologically and socially .

Treat Yourself

No matter how old one gets, treating oneself occasionally has unmeasurable benefits such was mental clarity/re-focus among others. Treating oneselfs doesn’t necessarily mean splurging huge amounts on expensive purchases  but go ahead and buy that piece of cake if wanted.

So whenever someone tells you “you’re past your prime”, feel free to SMACK them for us. You’ve got plenty of living left to do!
