Ct scan instructions to patient?

Okay Linda, take a deep breath! You’re about to embark on an adventurous ride called CT scan. Yes, yes, I know it’s not as exhilarating or fun as Roller Coasters but trust me; you’ll come out feeling better and healthier.

Now before we get too excited, let’s discuss some essential pointers that will help make this ride less scary and uncomfortable for you.

Pre-Scan Preparation

Alrighty then! So your doctor has booked your appointment at the radiology center? Great! But before you head there with popcorn in hand (just kidding), here are some significant tasks that need to be done beforehand:

Fasten Your Seatbelts… Err Dress Accordingly!

Nope, I’m not asking you to wear seat belts in anticipation of turbulence midway during the scan (like they do on planes!). Instead – please dress appropriately. When undergoing a CT Scan examination wearing loose-fitting clothing is best. Avoid metal items such as jewelry or zips/buttons because these can interfere with imaging results.

Wearing snug garments will hinder getting high-quality images of critical areas like your abdomen and pelvis (unless sporting muffin tops is your thing). Trust me; nobody wants blurry pictures of vital organs being circulated around town (including animals)!

Get That Belly Empty

Before boarding any collective ride (including amusement parks rides) everybody must follow specific instructions– those revolving around food rules! Similarly, when going for a CT Scan don’t eat anything 3 hours preceding the exam unless explicitly instructed otherwise by your doctor.

However– if longer duration fasting is necessary – ensure consulting with medical professionals beforehand so they cannot pin hunger strikes accusations later(wink-wink). Pack snacks only for after completing the shoot instead .

Aren’t All Rides Going To Be Safe?

Any investigation done on your body can cause stress – physical, emotional or even hormonal. But trust me (again!) CT Scan is much like a roller coaster ride, – minus the carbs you consumed earlier.

Keep in mind that the entire process is non-invasive and incredibly safe – unless you have some underlying condition (that’s when things are not so rosy). Any after-effects such as headaches or dizziness usually go away immediately after the scan.

So unless seasickness is something that significantly bothers you, most people react to a CT Scan with comfort and ease(cue up noisemakers!)

### Stowaway Underway

So now it begins- Welcome aboard Linda!

Firstly, remember that there might be several patients ahead of you waiting for their turn; don’t worry; they won’t be sipping on caramel popcorn while watching your performance … at least I hope not. Please check-in promptly upon arrival and allow sufficient checked luggage space – which in this case would refer to jewellery/clothes/watch etc.

As tranquil as imaging centers try to make its facilities— noise levels prevail because scanning machines emit mid-range humming sounds constantly(:-/)– akin to an old fridge sighing! Don’t forget those scary alarms activate intermittently(shudder!!!)

Just Follow The Fun Conductor

After boarding successful (pat-on-back), meet our cherished staff who has vowed never ever to prank or mention any hair curler scenes from movies during working hours— NOT!!

The radiographer will guide each step of the way throughout your unique journey inside Xray land( sparkles).

Let The Ride Begin–riding Position & Image Capturing

Seat buckle fastened? Awesome!! –now hold on tight!!!

Show Some Skin…No Really!!

Despite cameras rolling all around us 24×7, appearing scandalous during this ‘Family approved’ theatre moment seems unacceptable. However–at the CT Imaging centre, it’s a different reality.

The experts will ask you to step into your own glamourous private dressing room; they’ll offer you a hospital gown, which all patients need to wear while undergoing these tests.– one of the fastest (and tempting ways) to speed up your makeover!

Prop Up Comfortably

Now presenting sky-coaster scan!! Your destination is set in stone. All aboard for lift-off( can we hear “I believe I can fly” playing at this point)

You will recline on the scanning couch with gentle support & cushioning propping beneath! – no more worries about painful seating or jiggling seats…. Luckily (extra-galore-bracelets-free), you only journey sitting still!!

And Linda – just like a plane taking off lifted by slanting wheels—the bed moves smoothly .Take comfort knowing that there are plenty of pillows and bolsters available if any modifications are necessary during scanning phases.

Just Breathe In… Not Out!!

Alright, now that all is set let’s begin capturing those images. The radiographer might ask you to hold breath some times , so huffing and puffing anytime earlier would be harmful (not even doing it under blankets, where nobody is watching….)

By maintaining an accurate position(please stop snoring) throughout each photo session from start till completion results in medically beneficial outcomes. And trust me- We don’t want hazy swimmy pictures (cue breaking ferris wheel) since our aim here eventually aims towards full recovery.

Time For Some Post-Ride Procedures

Pheww!!

That was quite an experience –no dramatic drops (except perhaps around waistlines later !!) However– Hope everyone has returned safely back to their virtual world without encountering side effects endured due after undertaking nerve-wracking videos games like Fast & furious 9!!!

Hopefully following these guidelines will lead to a stress-free process in what would have otherwise felt overwhelming. Now – time for you all to return back home recharge our systems and relive past ride experiences!

Take care & stay safe until next scheduled fun-time CT scan adventure!!!.
