Can elidel cream be used on the face?

Use Elidel only on skin areas affected with eczema. Stop using the medicine once your symptoms have cleared up, unless your doctor has told you otherwise. Elidel Cream is for use on the skin only (topical). Do not get the cream in your eyes, nose, mouth, vagina, or rectum.Occupation:

What conditions does Elidel cream treat? Elidel (pimecrolimus) is an immunodepressant cream formulation for short-term-only treatment of mild to moderate atopic dermatitis (eczema) in non- immunocompromised adults and children 2 years of age and older, who have failed to respond adequately to other topical prescription treatments, or when those treatments are not advisable.

Does Elidel thin the skin at all? I read on the internet from multiple websites, that TCI’s do not cause skin thinning or the side effects associated with steroid ointments, which is why it’s usually used. However, one website stated that Elidel does not thin the skin “as much as” steroid creams do!

Does Elidel contain steroid? Elidel cream contains a medicine called pimecrolimus. It does not contain any steroids. Elidel cream specifically treats an inflammation of the skin called atopic dermatitis (eczema). It works in the cells in the skin that cause the inflammation and characteristic redness and itching of eczema.

Is Elidel cream used for pityriasis alba? A low potency topical corticosteroid may also be prescribed to decrease inflammation and reduce symptoms. Elidel, a nonsteroidal topical cream, can also reduce itching and redness associated with pityriasis alba for those over the age of two.

Was this helpful? Is Elidel a safe alternative to steroid cream use? Elidel (also known as pimecrolimus) is a similar product to protopic, but it is in a cream form. It is an alternative to steroid creams and can also be done at home. It does not have the potential side effects of steroid creams. Protopic does not seem to be readily absorbed into the bloodstream, so the treatment is quite localised.
