American horror 4?

American Horror Story is back, and this time it’s taking us to the circus! Freak Show immerses us in a world of bizarre performers with exceptional talents who are anything but ordinary. The nightmare-inducing season highlights society’s fascination with freaks and how we have always reveled in watching others suffer. If you thought previous seasons were messed up, you haven’t seen anything yet!

Background: What is American Horror Story?

Before we delve into what makes Freak Show different from other seasons, let’s talk about what AHS actually is. Ryan Murphy created the show, which premiered on FX Network in 2011 as an anthology horror series that revisits a new haunt each season instead of building upon one long-running story. Every season has its own unique storyline focusing on different themes such as haunted houses, witchcraft, cults but all underlining sinister forces lurking beneath; for instance something like demonic apparitions or personal obsessions.

Getting Spooky

As spooky-themed decor floods department stores once again and costumes begin to appear in costume shops everywhere (particularly those selling online), it’s time to admit that Halloween is coming guys….ALREADY!! Anyone else think Christmas lights go up earlier every year?!

New Location:

Under The Big Top

Meet “The David Copperfield Of Abnormality.”

Underneath the surface of everything quirky there’s much darkness brewing when behind-the-scenes secrets unfold via cast members attending campy rehearsals at nightfall debuting during public performances by day where they clutch onto a sense of normalcy not carried out beyond their character’s stage presence.

Character Roll-Call

Beyond introducing some fantastic characters played by even better actors from prior seasons. Some intriguing new additions include ‘Siamese Twins’ Dot & Bette Tattler portrayed respectively by actress Sarah Paulson playing two roles simultaneously, also joining the gang is it-girl Emma Roberts in a light but mischievous role, and veteran television actor Kathy Bates as Ethel Darling.

Meet Twisty The Clown

Our main villain “Twisty”, whose mysterious origins unfold throughout Freak Show is quite possibly even more terrifying than previous AHS antagonist creations played by John Carrol Lynch.

Theme Of American Horror Story Season 4

As mentioned earlier, this year’s season circus-themed runs with symbolism deliberately. Behaviours adopted from outcast communities or individuals we deem ‘different’ can create predators of them rather than appreciation which was as apparent historically as it would’ve been irresponsible to omit! In our eyes of course future generations may look back in horror at some of the treatment today’s society abides by making for an interesting discourse that which applied to each episode.

The Creepy Premise:

We’re provided insight into what brought us here via key plot-segments involving character backstory-laced imagery such; like Evan Peters’ Jimmy Darling engaging with locals whilst performing one night only to result in overhearing his father speaks ill over him loud enough for all ears thus causing physical injury & Briarcliff asylum’s Pepper who returns now tied into Elsa Mars’ freak show storyline during “Orphans.”

Surprises:

All That Buzz During Pre-Production

Back when promoting before its original air date those involved teased stellar casting from former members Jessica Lange enacting Fraulein Elsa Mars (performer/leader), Angela Bassett joining once again taking on Desiree Dupree (3 breatsed woman seen above) among other voices decided upon including the much-loved Neil Patrick Harris, Ryan Murphy always creating a quirky feel to every new concept thrown.

Conclusion: It’s Time To Embrace The Fear

American Horror Story has never been a show for faint-hearted fanatics, and this latest instalment provides no reprieve with just the right measures of frightening visuals and fascinating characters mixed in as we come to love with every season. Freak Show is certain to leave your spine tingling, your heart racing, and having you sometimes questioning just what it means to be ‘normal’ anyways!
