Acromion is type 2?

Listen up folks, because today we’re going to talk about the Acromion. Now I know what you might be thinking, “Ugh, not another anatomy lesson.” But fear not my friends! We are going to take a humorous and slightly unconventional approach to this topic that will leave you in stitches.

What is the Acromion?

Before we jump into whether or not it’s type 2, let’s first establish what exactly we’re talking about here. The Acromion is part of the shoulder blade (scapula) that forms a bony ridge at the top of your shoulder. You can feel it by pressing on your shoulder – go ahead give it a poke I won’t judge.

Why does it matter if it’s Type 2?

Now that we’ve nailed down what the Acromion actually is, let’s move onto why people care so much about whether or not it’s Type 2. Basically, there are three types of acromions: Type 1 (flat), Type 2 (curved), and Type 3 (hooked). A curved or hooked acromion can cause friction and rubbing against soft tissue in the shoulder region which can lead to some serious discomfort for those affected.

So…is it?

Drumroll please…the answer is yes! If you have a curved acromion then congratulations my friend – you are rockin’ that Type 2 life like nobody’s business!

How common is a Type 2 Acromion?

Great question insert air high five. According to various studies out there, around one third (~33%) of all individuals possess this particular type of acromion.

Another interesting fact

For your next icebreaker conversation starter: did you know that having a type II acromium could put someone at higher risk for rotator cuff injuries?

Can a Type 2 Acromion be fixed?

Unfortunately, there is no cure for a type II acromium. But have no fear, just because you’re cursed with it doesn’t mean all hope is lost. Many people are able to manage the symptoms and continue with regular activities by practicing proper shoulder maintenance (stretching, strengthening exercises), weight loss if needed and avoiding excessive overhead movements.

How treatment may vary

For those that still experience pain or discomfort despite any preventative measures taken – many orthopedists might recommend corticosteroid injections to relieve shoulder inflammation or surgery to remove the bone spur which contributes to the underlying problem.

Is having a Type 2 Acromion better than Types 1 & 3?

You know what they say – different strokes for different folks! Just because some individuals prefer the look of flat acromiums (Type I) over curved ones doesn’t mean that one is inherently “better” than another. However in terms of related injury risks and impingement concerns — research certainly shows1 cause for higher risk assessments on formal diagnosis’ between types; but ultimately it’s up personal preference (and likely handedness too).

Does this impact athletes more seriously?

Athletes are also at higher risk due to their repetitive strain placed on these regions during training or performance – tennis players might feel this pressure moreso when serving or even swimmers when doing butterfly motions.

Effects Specifically in Baseball Players

There was an interesting study done where researchers analyzed high school baseball pitchers who possessed type III acromions found they were more likely suffer from supraspinatus tears compared their peers 2%2C%20and%2018.5%E2%80%B3.)

Can a Type 2 Acromion develop later in life?

The type of acromion you have is generally something that’s determined by genetics, so it’s not likely to change outta the blue. However, as with any bone structure — fractures or injuries to the shoulder joint can impact and worsen initial structures leading to potential development difficulties over time.

Age Impacts

Plus age could also play a factor – there has been reported findings on these conditions being more common in those over age 40 too 3 .

Final Thoughts

So what did we learn today? The Type II Acromium doesn’t make someone good or bad – just different! But keep this knowledge handy, as now perhaps we will understand why some individuals may prefer overhand throwing positions instead of sidearm delivery[4] (https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/2325967117710266).

Well folks I hope this article has infected your mind with enough curiosity and humor about the idea that IT IS true…a curved Acr- is twice(sorry thrice!) appreciated than no curve at all! Thanks for reading along and happy referencing back again this newly found knowledge source ;)!
