MPD: Rollover on West Beltline; Eastbound from Verona Road to Seminole closed

State Street Associated Bank robbed UPDATED with CORRECTIONS

UPDATED: Article updated with new details from police.

Associated Bank at 202 State Street was robbed this morning (we previously reported overnight based on a tip from the street. An employee was also not left overnight or tied up as reported earlier).

From the Madison Police Department:

at 7:41 a.m. Madison police were called to the Associated Bank on State Street for an armed robbery. An employee says he was in the parking lot next to the bank when a man, who was armed with a handgun, approached him. The robber then entered the bank with the employee. A second employee was already inside of the bank. Both employees were told to wait for a certain period of time before calling police. The gunman fled with money, and after approximately ten minutes the employees did summon the MPD.

Perpetrator is described as male, 5'6" - 5'9", average build, wearing blue coat with hood, and some sort of mask.

FOUND: Mount Horeb police seek help in locating missing woman

Tammy L. Fitzsimons of Black Earth has now been missing for more then 24-hours and the Mount Horeb Police Department is seeking information from anyone who may have seen her. Fitzsimmons, 25, was last seen leaving Olson's Flowers on Main Street in Mount Horeb, where she works, at 11:30 a.m. Monday. According to the The Capital Times, "Fitzsimons is white, about 5 feet, 5 inches tall, 150 pounds, and was last seen driving her red 2002 Saturn Vue bearing Wisconsin license plate 958-KWE."

Mount Horeb is a little more than 30 minutes west of Madison.

Anyone with information should contact the Mount Horeb Police Department at 608-437-5522.

Suspect in custody following armed robbery near campus

After a brief lock down the campus area can return to normal after a robbery on Regent Street. The suspect who fled into the UW-Madison Welcome Center has been taken into custody. The robbery resulted in the center and two residence halls being locked down as police searched the area. it is not known if this robbery is connected to the multiple acts of strong armed robberies that have occurred around Madison during the past week. Breaking: Francine Tate found alive in Northern Wisconsin

Francine Tate has been found alive in northern Wisconsin blowing a hole in Greta Van Susteren's attempt at fear mongering by suggesting Madison may have a serial killer. No reasons for her disappearance have been released to the press. According to WISC the person of interest in this case, Randall Gobble, has also been located in Minnesota. There is no indication that he was involved in Tate's disappearance.

Last night we posted about signs going up around Madison looking for information on a missing adult named Francine Tate. At that point in time she had not been missing for just under 24 hours (last seen at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday). Now, more than 36 hours later, she is still missing. The Dane County's Sheriff's Department told WISC-TV last night that they do not suspect foul play. There is also now a Facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2607941780

"Find Kelly Nolan" sign removed from Lava Lounge window; employee at nearby business says "they found her"

Passing by the Lava Lounge I noticed the large sign seeking information on Kelly Nolan had been taken down. I asked a person sitting on the steps (from a nearby business, not a Lava Lounge employee) if he knew why the sign was down and he replied "they found her."

Confirms coroner report saying the body in Oregon, Wis. "most likely" was Kelly Nolan.

UPDATE 5:30 p.m.: "Find Kelly Nolan" sign removed from window of Lava Lounge a couple of hours ago, employee of nearby business says they found her.

We are having a hard time bringing up the feed from the 4:30 p.m. press conference concerning the body found while searching for Kelly Nolan. The coroner is suggesting that the body is "most likely" Kelly Nolan. The folks in the CourtTV forums are on top of it and are reporting the following:

- "Area today was searched as new information came in from cell phone records. Sounds like not Kelly's phone. That to me indicates they have a suspect but will not release any information. There is evidence at the scene indicating the body is Kelly's however they have not gotten close to the body."

- "Body has been there for an extended period of time. Not put there recently."

- "It very well could be Kelly's phone, they have not touched or moved her body. They are waiting on a special forensic team to arrive to process the scene. Multi jurisdictional investigation."

Police: Body found on "Schneider Road" in Oregon, Wis.; processing could take days

During a 2 p.m. press conference Madison Public Information Officer Joel DeSpain updated the situation unfolding in Oregon, Wis. regarding the search for Kelly Nolan. DeSpain was still unable to confirm if the body found was that of Nolan. He said "Schneider Road" (Google Maps lists it as "Schneider Drive") would be shut down for several days as the area is processed. He said the body was found roughly a mile down Schneider Road off of County Road MM. The Capital Times wrote this morning "remains were found during a massive search for her on private property near a quarry northeast of Schuster Road.." Schuster Road is to the south of Schneider. The body was found roughly 10 miles south of where Kelly Nolan had been drinking on June 23. It is important to remember that DeSpain is a civilian PIO so he is only given information by police on a "we feel you need to know it" basis.

WISC reports: "Police said they found a body at 9 a.m. Monday along Highway 14 in the village of Oregon during a search related to the Kelly Nolan missing person case. Police would not confirm if the body is that of Nolan.

Hmong rally in Madison for General Vang Pao

hmong3062507.JPGAn estimated 100 Hmong supporters of General Vang Pao rallied in Madison this afternoon demanding his release from a jail in Sacramento, Calif. The 77-year-old was hospitalized on Wednesday with reports of an irregular heartbeat. Vang Pao was arrested earlier this month under allegations of being tied to a plot to overthrow the Communist government in Laos. The Hmong leader played an important, but controversial, role during the 60s and 70s as a commander of the "Secret Army." The Hmong unit was American-trained and fought against the North Vietnamese Army even after U.S. forces began their pull out.

MPD: Murder/Homicide on 600 block of State Street

Address: 600 block of State St.
Arrested person/suspect: Male, 31, detained.
Victim/Injuries: Male, 23.
Details: On 5/22/07 at approximately 11:54 p.m. Madison Police responded to a fight in the 600 block of State St. It was learned that a street fight had occurred and that shots were fired. The victim was pronounced deceased at a local hospital. The suspect is detained and a weapon was recovered. This does not appear to be a random act and there is no continuing threat to the community. This investigation is in the early stages with witnesses and evidence being examined. Currently the 600 block of State St. is closed for evidence processing. Additional information will be available later on Wednesday.

Alcohol Licenses approved for Majestic Theatre and Club One-Eleven

The Madison Alcohol License Review Committee has just approved the alcohol license for the new owners of the Majestic Theatre. Earlier in the evening they approved the license for Club One-Eleven which will occupy the former Que Sera space at 111 W. Main Street. One-Eleven will be operated by Glenn Jahns of the Shamrock and will, for the time being, only occupy the first two floors of the three floor venue. Each floor will have a 99 person capacity.
