Last Wednesday night I stopped by The Workshop (the recording studio on the corner of Johnson Street/North Street) to interview Shinky and the rest of the Shazy Hade gang (Eric Geving, Eric Hartz, Dave Hunt, Mark Sinnott), about their ~~upcoming~~ show with The Black Diamond Heavies and Ron Franklin. On Wednesday night Dane101 contributors sat down at the Brink Lounge to discuss the prior week's events and happenings. The first part of our discussion was about the plethora of shows this weekend including Leslie and the Lys, Retribution Gospel Choir, Black Swans, and a whole lot more. Joining us in the discussion was editor of the Onion's local AV Club, Scott Gordon. From dane101 we had Jesse Russell, Emily Mills, Jason Dean, Erin Rasmussen, Bessie Cherry, and Joshua James (Adam Schabow joins in later). Below is the first half of our third podcast. Look for the second half tomorrow. We are also excited to announce the debut of our official podcast theme song produced by the Shabelles.

The Buffali enter the Pod

This just in (hence the reason it isn't with the rest of the Madison area music notes for the week). The Buffali are the latest Madison act to launch a podcast. They call it "The 1st Annual Buffcast Podzine!!!" This Buffcast from Madison's favorite quirk-pop duo wins the award for most adorable podcast theme song of the year. It will also help Madison fans cope as the duo continue to tour, record demos for a new album, and pursue the bright lights of the big city.

In this first edition Andrew interviews his band mate Claire about their band, we hear a live version of "Frustration," a new track called "Mostly Over You" from their demo, an oldie Buffali song "Sorry I Drank Your Whiskey," a story about Scott's Folkatorium in Akron, Ohio, and a pirate joke.
