Found Madison: Scribbles on a songstress in lonely Madison
We haven't popped up any Found In Madison stuff in a long while, mostly due to losing our scanner. Don't ask how we lost our scanner, just know that it disappeared. Now we have a brand spanking new scanner (actually, it is a used and donated scanner) and we are working our way through a box of stuff that has accumulated since our last Found post. These pieces should take us through at least until the end of March 2008. In case you aren't familiar with Found Madison it is essentially a localized version of the national publication Found Magazine. People find stuff on the street and send them into Found and they publish them in the magazine. We run this feature with permission from Found's Davy Rothbart who we have heard has a basement packed full of this stuff. As soon as we accumulate a sizable box of content we ship it off to Found Magazine. So, if you find anything and want it included, feel free to let us know. We can scan it for you, post it on Dane101, and send it off to Found on your behalf.
This most recent find appears to be notes on a musician scrawled on the back of an old Cafe Montmartre menu. We haven't figured out who she is but her "piano was perfectly hushed + measured while vocals were perfectly pitched and strong." The notes also make an excellent contribution to Echodrop Madison as they capture a conversation between the songstress and an audience member:
"Madison is lonely."
"What does that mean?"
"It means it sucks. You're beautiful, so inspire us."
"I'll try."

Internet Detectives away!
I think I figured out who this person was gushing over:
Astrid Swan: http://www.myspace.com/astridswan
I also figured out that I am a huge dork with too much time on my hands. :)
(She played at Montmarte back on April 25, and her album came out on May 22, the date circled in the note. Also she's from Finland)
