Here at Dane101 we are always fans of anyone who attempts to put together a solid festival for the purpose of moving the Madison music scene forward. Justin Jahnke is doing just that on Sunday with a festival at the High Noon that starts in the late afternoon and rolls all the way through the evening. Starting off the party will be Pistols At Dawn followed by Pale Young Gentlemen, Brown Derby, SONMI, Flame Shark, Selfish Gene, and Dissent and Revolt. More info is available on the Flame Shark website and we'll write more tomorrow during our weekend music round up.

While on the subject of festivals, don't forget one of the areas biggest festivals of music and mayhem, Reverence, will be returning to Madison for year number five from July 25 through 28. We posted the big old flyer at the bottom of this article so you can see who is playing when and where.

According to Kristian Knutsen over at The Daily Page the Madison Made Music Project has received a whopping 151 songs for consideration. A panel will now cull through the songs over a month, "these songs will be featured on a compilation album, and the artists invited to perform at a quintet of live shows in September, with sales of CDs and tickets directed towards raising funds for the project's organizers, Porchlight, Inc. and the Community Action Coalition of South-Central Wisconsin."

A new DVD is being put together and should be ready for release in October. It will feature the likes of Blueheels, Honky Tonk Twisters, Jim James and the Damn Shames, and Andy's Automatics.

Nathan Meltz, poster maker and the man behind multiple Madison music projects, is getting ready to leave our fair city and in order to make his journey a bit lighter he is trying to unload some of his art work at low, low prices. You can check out what he has to offer at Gigposters.com and find out how to contact him via The Daily Page Forums.

The new album from Zero to Sixty Never, “Choose Your Own Adventure,” will soon be available on CDbaby, iTunes, Snocap, Smartpunk, and more. They'll also make a copy available directly if you send $12 via paypal to jamesbobula – at – yahoo – dot – com (replacing the at and dot with the appropriate punctuation).

Tiger Claw Records has just launched Loose Circuit Record Distribution for all of your electro-experimental and circuit bending needs. Check it out: http://www.loosecircuit.com/

The World on Higher Downs dropped their new album on July 10. You can find it at www.forcedexposure.com.

The Pistols at Dawn are currently previewing two songs from their forthcoming album on MySpace.

Rob Dz reports that “Life As I See It” has been delayed. It was supposed to drop on August 14, but “business circumstances” have tied things up.

If you've been in the Samarah doldrums and are itching for some new music - you'll be waiting a little longer. However, she is trying to ease your pain a little by offering up some older unreleased tracks on her MySpace profile.

Ryan Taylor is finishing up his new album but he is previewing some new tracks on his MySpace page.

Something To Do are now accepting preorders for their August release "I Command You To Dance." They are also seeking pictures from the band's recent Summerfest appearance.

Polydream are still on the look out for management, but in the meantime they have selected a name for their forthcoming album: "Send Me to the Sun."

Phat Phunktion has 10 songs written with two or three more being finished, so expect a new album possibly by the end of the year!

hot 8

Don't forget New Orleans' own Hot 8 Brass Band at the High Noon tonight and at La Fete de Marquette this weekend (Fri. and Sun., I think), they are unmissable.
