Thursday, October 25 Know Your Rights Want to know what the police can and can't do as you prepare to head down to State Street on Halloween weekend? The Madison ACLU is hosting a discussion on search and seizure at University of Wisconsin Law School Room 2211 from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, October 26 Nottingham Coop Pre-Halloween Party The Nottingham Co-op is hosting a listening party and debut on Friday night. A suggested donation of $5 will get you music from Kitty Rhombus, Obstacle Corpse, Cpt. Hovercraft, Cpt. Clawthroat, and J.T. Witamore. Hip Hop Hell on Halloween Kanye West is presenting something called G.O.O.D. Music at the Alliant Energy Center. This early 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. event features Twista, T-Trell, Jo Flowroshus, Paul Wall, and more. The event is being recorded for a television show being produced by Russell Simmons. Public Drunkards Halloween Show The Public Drunkards are also hosting an early Halloween version of their sketch comedy routine. Starting at 6 p.m. at the King Club this event will end shortly before the Vibe Syndicate take the stage at 9 p.m. The Majestic switches out SoundLAB for the Death of Fashion this Friday. Join Nick Nice as he provides the beats for "Grisly Runway Theatre Horror and Fashion." The event is being put on by Context Clothing. Saturday, October 27 H3LLB4SS The Mercury Cafe hosts H3LLB4SS featuring "pure chaos with ghoulish decorations and the darkest dance beats around. DJ Hush opens the night with techno terror, then the Paradox Twins step in to distort your reality with evil breaks. Doctor Jonez provides the full musical lobotomy and your host himself will seal your doom." The event starts at 10 p.m. King Club Halloween Spooktacular King Club keeps it nice and diverse this Halloween. The impressive line-up includes dancemasters Pagee Go Go, pogo glam bootyshakers Screamin' Cyn Cyn and the Pons, quirk rabble rockers Facesteak, and a special presentation by the rising stars of Madison burlesque - Foxy Veronica's Peach Pies. Maximum Ink's 5th Annual Spooktacular Madison's local rock magazine has been bringing the spooky to the High Noon for five year's running. This year they once again bring plenty of tricks and treats. Cealed Kasket will be slamming out their thrashing metal, Mr. Brownstone will be throwing on the Axel bandanna and Slash curls as they rock out the G 'n R, Awesome Car Funamaker will be belting out your favorite "car songs" (we aren't clear if this means songs of the Cars or songs you like to hear in the car), and Straight to the Stone Age will be escorting your musical sensibilities to the Queens of the Stone Age. Inferno's Vampire Ball One of the hottest party's on the other side of the tracks is the Inferno's Vampires Ball. The Inferno brings in some of the best hard beat DJs in the area for a night of blood lusting debauchery. DJs this year include DJ Siberia. The Klinic Metal Halloween Show The Klinic has yet to release the details of their Metal Halloween show, but we can assure you, it will be metaltastic. Kiki's House of Righteous Music Kiki Schueller continues to bring in the best acts for what are easily the most intimate shows in town (Indie Coffee is second, followed by Mother Fool's). While she hasn't said it is a Halloween party, it falls on this night so it needs to be mentioned. Kiki corrals the bright orchestral pop of Head of Femur, a band that could easily fill a space like the King Club or Cafe Montmartre. Nice job, Kiki! Cafe Montmartre Cafe Montmartre hosts a return of Chicago's Pistols At Dawn. The Pistols hit Montmartre earlier this year and filled the space with a sound that blends U.S. indie like Pavement with U.K. rock like the Arctic Monkeys. No doubt they'll be doing the same this month. HalloQueen The Majestic provides the space so the folks who bring you iQ Night each month can throw a massive Halloween bash. More details here. Tuesday, October 30 WSUM Zombie Dance Party Event the zombies need to shake off the rigor every now and again and cut a rug. The University of Wisconsin's student radio station WSUM will be hosting a Zombie Dance Party at the King Club. One buck off the already reasonable cover charge of five bucks if you come dressed as a zombie. Likely free if you are a real zombie. Wednesday, October 31
You didn't think we would sit this year out did you? We've put together a killer line up of Madison acts performing as some of their favorite bands. We also have tons of prizes for this event that also acts as a fundraiser for Second Harvest Food Bank. Come check out the Clash, the ZomBeatles, The Misfits, the Ramones, The Velevet Underground, and zombie comedian Angus Macabre. Halloween - The Annex Grand Re-Opening The Annex has been kicking serious booking ass over the past couple of months and they plan to mark Halloween as the grand re-opening (re-imagining?) of the space with so much potential. They also bring the tributes with Motley Crue and Alice Cooper look and sound-a-likes. |
